Description
Montreal Need a better 2nd goalie, yes he 's too expansive, but getting Fabbri is a nice gift to take a shot to Allen.

Scandella will give experience and a LD what MTL need. Scandella a hometown kid, will resign with hometown discount at the end of the year a 3year deal around 2.5m

Next question, what to do with Drouin?

I like the Fabbri move, though I suspect the Blues would only trade him if they know he's too damaged to return to his former trajectory. Still, getting Jake Allen, assuming he's willing to be a #2 goalie, is a great idea. Scandella is fine, but he's not going to beat out Kulak for the #4 slot. Habs need an upgrade at LHD, not just another decent LHD.

We are paying 19.5% of the cap on goalies for the 2019-2020 season in this scenario (including the mason buyout). I think the Habs would be better off looking at a serious upgrade at top 4 LD/ a legitimate top 6 forward (fabbri has a lot of question marks) with that extra money spent on goaltending.

I also like the thought of Scandella the home town D coming to the habs, but he isn't good enough for a top 4 role imo, and now we're spending 4M on a bottom pair guy. Use that roughly 8-10M in cap you have spent here on a serious upgrade whether via trade or free agency for the top pair LD.

Never i've put Scandella ont the top 4. For me he's a bottom pairing LD but can move the puck and play SH. I also said that he will resigne at a hometown discount. 4M is only for this year, and i don't think Bergevin will go All in for this year, he will keep the gap on the future/present.

Fabbri is the price to pay to say Bye to the very big Allen contract. 2 years left on this deal, so the '' on the side of the deal '' needs to be good enough. I was thinking at Joel Edmundsson but i do think the Blues will lock him for long term that's why i'll go with Fabbri. Very good upside IF HE CAN STAY HEALTHY wich is a big question.

No I completely understand your thoughts, but I just think investing 12M of cap space into a backup goalie, 3rd pairing Dman and question mark winger is poor cap and asset management.

The habs have a log jam in their bottom 6, fabbri just adds another body into the mix.

Like I mentioned before, if we take on a cap hit it should be similar to the WPG deal, short term and easy to buyout. I think the most pressing issue is a top pair LHD

YEAH but with the WPG deal we weren't in the need of a good backup bcause we had Niemi. Now we have Lindgren. We need a decent back up goalie. Allen is not a #1. But he's not a bad goalie too. Problem is fix for 2 years. The price is too high for a back up goalie. But with an interesting assets why not? They will not give Thomas or Kyrou. I dont want Kostin. I don't think we need a Barbashev. So Fabbri or Edmundsson was the 2 target to me.

Maybe we can go Florida for Reimer or Luongo +++

Id like Anders Nilsson but he just sign in OTT

No need to spend 4+ million on a backup goalie is all I’m suggesting when we already pay Carey 10.5. Way too much money invested into 1 position. Lindgren is fine enough, and if it’s thought he’s not good enough, there will be backups available from league minimum-2M AAV during free agency
