      That team is freaking insane. Straight outta videogame. Some of the players will never accept those contracts, not to mention that SEA wouldn't be taking 33 year old Backlund. They'd take someone younger.

      Then should I bump the pick up to a 1st to make them take him? And who doesn't take those contracts?

      Well just a rule of thumb; if you're going to offer 7+ years to a player, they are going to want to see significant money coming back their way. You'll have to initially overpay for a contract of that length, because with a 7+ year deal, it's likely the biggest deal some of these players are going to see. Tkachuk is going to see money similar to what just about every 70+ point player is seeing. He may not get it right now, but when he gets his 7+ year deal, he'll see $8.5M+ per season on his contract. Same goes for guys like Valimaki & Dube. You may be able to get away with the money you're paying them here, if they sign 3-5 year deals. If you want them to agree to a 7+ year contract, you are going to have to bump up the salaries of both significantly.

      * Trades Gaudreau for Frost

      Hmm.. Yeah I can sorta see that in a scenario where Frost develops into something real and Johnny says he won't sign the next contract this far away from home, interesting...

      * Plays Frost on the 4th line

      Mate what?

      I don't have room on another line. They're all full.

      I was more thinking in the sense that if he's good enough to be the main piece in a Gaudreau trade he's probably beating out Kadri at 2C

      Especially closer to the expansion draft we are going to see all kinds of trades to Seattle. Overpaid NHLers with term and Seattle gets a second rounder . So after the expansion draft, Seattle will have a cap of 150m and have 31 additional second round picks.

      Disagree, those young guys are going to get 2-7 to 8 year contracts. The first could be for a bit less.
