As a habs fan, I take the Ghost deal and run, but I don't think PHI entertains this. Ratcliffe and Romanov are two good prospects with similar values in my opinion. So you basically trade Shaw for Ghost and they add a second.... I think Montreal would have to add (a lot), not the opposite.

Not sure I agree that Romanov and Ratcliffe are similar prospects. Romanov is a 2018 draft pick and is already 45th on THN's Future Watch. Ratcliffe is a year older and has never cracked the top 100. I'm not saying Ratcliffe won't be a fine NHLer if his skating keeps developing, but he's not at Romanov's level and Ds are always more valuable that Ws.

Yeah, maybe. I probably don't know enough about Ratcliffe but he looked great with Suzuki in CHL playoffs. Even if you're right and Romanov has significantly more value, I don't think this is enough. We would need a PHI fan opinion on this one.

Hard to say how I feel about the leafs trade. Liquidating Zaitsev into a 3rd is hardly a bad thing in my opinion (and no I don't doubt you could offload him for a mid round pick despite some ACGMs' insistance that you'd need to add Marner for them to eat it). Juulsen doesn't bring back Kappy all by himself in my opinion but maybe there's something the leafs would see in him. I certainly wouldn't mind adding Juulsen to the organization, I just haven't seen much out of him to be all too excited about that return.

The way I see it is Zaitsev while a serviceable player is a negative due to his contract that the Leafs would have to offer an asset to move(nothing major though). So with that in mind this trade is more like Juulsen, a 3rd and cap relief for Kapanen which I believe is more than fair considering I don't think TOR will be able to resign him anyway.

They are completely capable of signing him in my eyes, although I do agree that someone will likely have to go, if for any reason, to allow additional moves to occur throughout the offseason and next season.
