Tampa trades for Rakell NJD BUF NYR

Description
Not sure the value would be there to tease the Ducks to accept the trade. But Tampa would give them a 1st rounder, a 4th, Joseph who's an emerging and intriguing player + the rights to th Syracuse Crunch top scorer (82 points in 76 games this season). Tampa trades Verhaeghe because they re-sign Paquette (as he played very well this last season) and therefore they have no space in the lineup for Verhaeghe - who otherwise would make his NHL debut with the Bolts next season.

With this move, BriseBois would finally give Stamkos the winger he desperately needs since having Kuch taken off of his line.

With this move Tampa also improves his physicality on the ice + address the need for a RHD in Pionk.

By trading away Gourde and not JT Miller, Tampa keeps his salary flexible for the 2020 offseason, as JT Miller will have a M-NTC (8 teams no trade list) that gives the Bolts the option to clear up 5.25M if needed to resign the 2020 RFAs.

ANA declines. 29th or 30th overall pick is not tempting enough to give up their most valuable forward. Under a great contract.

How could this trade be teasing for the Ducks without including a key piece for the Bolts?

Honestly you're not getting a key piece of another team without giving one to them in exchange.

They need RHD prospects, bad. Foote+Joseph+1st could work.

Is Gourde really worth all that?
Is he that good or just a byproduct of playing on an excellent Tampa team?
If I was a GM idk if I'd want to give up even a late 1st round pick for him, would be concerned that his production might fall off a cliff once he's not on Tampa anymore.

Gourde not nearly worth that .. a 2nd rounder most likely .. only Miller is worth a 1st.. Johnson Palar Killorn and Gourde are all 2nd round comp.
I would trade all 4 of the "middle grinder wings" if possible and reload with 2 Crunch and 2 new FAs like Ferland Simmonds etc.. bring da beef

What I REALLY want to do is move Stamkos to RW on 1st line .. if we have to keep him .. move Cerelli to 2nd line and trade for Kadri for 3C and resign Paquette as 4C

Also Tampa should keep Callahan if cost more than a 3rd or 4th .. could buyout for 2.6M or play him on 4th ..

My deal is maybe a bit high, but I do think that Gourde could get us a 1st rounder. Just as trading Tyler Johnson could/would. Wouldn't put these two on the same tier of Killorn and Palat, who both hold less value.

Why would you move Stammer to the 1st RW and move Cirelli to second C? That would kill our on ice depth IMO.
    Quote:
if we have to keep him

I'm not even gonna comment on that, c'mon now.

Ferland would be a good add, but Simmonds wouldn't. He's not his youger self anymore, he's now slow and doesn't use his body as he used to. It also looks like he lost his scoring touch, acquiring him would mean another dead weight à là Palat; no thank you.

It doesn't make much sense to keep or buy out Callahan: if you keep him you wast a roster spot that you could use for a Syracuse guy that is very likely to bring more that Callahan to the team.
If you buy him out you have 2.6M less cap space next offseason, where we'll need every single penny we can have. Even at the cost of a second rounder, I'd def ship Callahan to a team that needs him to reach the cap floor/ on his list

I don't think Buffalo gives up a first for Gourde. That's basically a cap dump for the lightning. Miller on then other hand....

Miller maybe one of the most attractive trade assets this offseasons in NHL .. I would prefer he stay and get rid of the generic shrimps .. but if it brings Risto or another top 4 RD Tampa has to consider it

@Zwui21 you asked for thoughts. I agree with you on Stamkos. He is an amazing player when used correctly and has the right wingers around him. Let me give you another option instead of trading for it. Last year Syracuse Crunch's top 2 lines ran in the playoffs. Line 1: Carter Verhaeghe - Gabriel Dumont - Alex Barre-Boulet (ABB) / Line 2: Alex Volkov - Mitchell Stephens - Cory Conacher. Contractually (unless traded) Conacher has a one way deal next yr and will be with the Bolts. Verhaeghe if resigned will have to be with the Bolts too. I also think ABB will make this team. Verhaeghe & ABB will be high powered and fast but will need a vet to anchor that line. Imagine a Verhaeghe - Stammer - ABB line. wow wow wow. And of course, our other top line is Johnson - Point - Kucherov. I could see a friendly competition between these 2 lines to see who puts up the most points (not including PP time.) Thoughts?

Yeah Stamkos is going to carry 2 rookies and be good? .. I'll bet my house he would be hurt or complaining by game 20 ..

FYI .. 40 of the "superstar" Stamkos points came on Power Play . Other than that .. he was a pedestrian 50 points and only a plus 4 on a team that had a plus 100 .. takes blinders off on Stamkos and PLEASE cd232 repost that playoff analysis of Stamkos .. it very telling
