Thank god you're not an actual GM. This would set us back another 2 years in our rebuild.

To be honest, I don't really want Malkin. Too injury prone. But a soon to be UFA Wing with his own injury history, another UFA that never lived up to his expectations, the 3rd best Center currently on the team (maybe 4th, if Andersson turns things around) and a late 1st for a guy who has finished with more Points than Games Played for 12 of his 13 Seasons doesn't seem overly terrible to me.

He's a great player but he'll be gone before they can contend, so why give up any kind of asset for him?
