Realistically what would cost Tampa to get Gusev back from Vegas MTL NYR FLA MIN

Description
If I only think that we gave him away... yes to get rid of Garrison's cap hit, but also to protect Koekkoek/Dotchin.. Urgh!

Gusev and Kucherov are playing together at the Worlds, they look so damn good.

To get his rights back I'd definitely be willing to give Vegas our 1st rounder.

    It was a joke

Lol Foote? Killorn is still a decent 3rd line power forward with a 4.45M contract, no way we give away our best D prospect for that

Then Tampa can keep him, good luck signing Point ($9 mil plus per year) as well as Sergachev ($4-5 million) and Vasilevskiy (9 million minimum) next year.

Lol are those lottery numbers? The closer is Sergachev, Vasilevskiy's not even getting close to that

Why do people think Killorn is a dump? He’s a good middle 6 forward who can play throughout the lineup. No need to pay assets to move him. He’s a good player. Maybe a little overpriced but teams like Buffalo that are desperate for forwards and have cap space would gladly take him

This is my guess: Point will get a 7.25M AAV x 3 years. Vasilevskiy (who I think will be re-signed during this offseason, after Point's contract is done) will get a contract in the Hellebuyck-Gibson ballpark, hence around 6-6.5M AAV x 5 years

    Hahahaha I feel you!
Friedman was saying in the 31 thoughts that he's pretty much a sure thing he'll be traded. Where do you think he'll land, and most importantly: what do you think/expect the return to be?

I could see: Arizona, Dallas, Colorado, Nashville, etc...

If he goes to Nashville, Subban will probably be involved. In other trades, it’ll be for young, high potential peices

So your assuming Point is willing to take a bridge deal? Why should he? Nylander didn’t, Marner doesn’t want one. Why would Vasilevskiy take that when he’s better than Gibby for sure and depending on your view Hellebuyck as well. He’s going want Price/Bob money or at least closer to that so 7.5 to 8 million

I assume that Point is open to the bridge deal option because him and his camp stated multiple times during the season that they are open to both bridge or long term deal. So I'm not really assuming.

Vas is not gonna get/take those money because no sane management person pays a goalie that much (10M). If you do that, you condemn your team to being mediocre at best. And because in Tampa there's a culture now.

I'll just copy-paste a bit of a TheAthletic article that came out the other day, discussing the Brayden Point future contract https://theathletic.com/973302/2019/05/13/what-will-brayden-points-next-lightning-contract-look-like/ :
Many Lightning players have said that former Lightning GM Steve Yzerman built a culture that’s still there today – buy-in to keep the team together, starting with Stamkos’ re-signing in 2016 for less than he could have gotten on the open market.

“Part of the culture that we have here in Tampa is kind of that team-first mentality, and if you want to keep a good team together, guys are going to have to make little sacrifices along the way,” Stamkos said. “Whether that’s in terms of money or term or ice time or role on the team.

“That was something that — it’s kind of non-negotiable on this team, in terms of doing whatever it takes to help us keep the core together and keep being a productive team. That message was pretty loud and clear early when Steve got here and established himself as a GM, and continued to be that way.”

Yzerman not GM anymore and bridge is malpractice for Points agent. Point WAY ahead of Kuch at same age and he a center. And AGAIN .. offer sheet July 1 starts the floor and it well over $8M.

And I wouldn't rely on a 4 month old article with a home town hack reporter interview that is done for fans.. it dont mean crap.

But let's not go back to that contract talk, me and you got different views on that and it's okay. We'll talk again about it when it's signed and we know for how much $/years. Tell me what you think about the Gusev trade instead/would you try to get his rights back to Tampa?

Mhh, a 2nd and a 3rd + 5M freed up in the cap space, for a guy that we'll replace in 2020 with Barré-Boulet? Would be a decent trade for Tampa IMO

Hmm, I guess so. Now that I think about it, a 2nd & 3rd would probably be fair, similar to the Johansson to NJ trade.
