Philly Leafs and fellow Habs fans what do you think

Description
In this scenario MB decides Drouin is not a long term solution and does a change of scenery deal with Philly to fit each team's respected needs.
Leafs and Habs decide to make a rare trade to take advantage of Montreal's cap space and Toronto's lack of such.
And finally Poehling through his play in camp gives the club no choice but to give him a roster spot.

I honestly believe the Habs will make minimal moves to their roster this offseason but if MB does decide to make a splash I don't think these hypotheticals are far off.

Both trades seem pretty reasonable. I can see Philly maybe wanting a little bit more back or maybe changing their 3rd rounder to a 5th but not bad.

I think it's the 1000th time Drouin got trade for Gostisbehere on this forum. It won't and should not happen. It's an horrible trade IMO.

For Montreal for sure, and also for Philly I would guess. Call me fool, but I think Gostisbehere is what Mete will looks like in a couple of years. An underweight but offensive dman. He'll produce between 30-40 pts per year like Gost is doing right now. He had one season of 65 pts, and no guarantee he'll reproduce that. He is not the most reliable dman on defense. And for Drouin, he remains unproven. I still believe in him, but for now he doesn't have that much value so I'm pretty sure the flyers arent high on him at this point.

I want Drouin for Ghost to happen. If philly thinks it's time to move on then it could happen, I know he had a tough year (like drouin).

I would throw in the rights to Mike Reilly. Give philly a cheap option for 3rd pair LD and replaces the depth lost by Gostisbehere. Reilly likely wants out of MTL given how the season ended.

Would rather use the cap space to sign Duchene than help out the leafs. Sportsnet lists Nashville and Montreal as the favourites to land him, Nashville would have to move salary.

Having said that the leafs trade looks fair to me.

Mete and Gostisbehere aren't really comparable. Ghost averages 2.5 shots per game and has scored 46 goals. Mete averages 0.9 shots per game and has 0 goals. Mete cannot shoot the puck. Ghost and Weber would give MTL two shooting threats instead of just one.

That's my thought, I like Mete a lot but a shooter he is not. Could you imagine Ghost and Weber patrolling the blue line on the PP? Deadly.

You are right, but Mete is still 20 years old. This is why I said he will look like Gost, not that they are comparables today. Although I had to agree that Mete might never have Gost shots. But aside of that they play pretty much the same game IMO.

Mete and Ghost are not comparables.....at all. Unless being 5'10 175 lbs is all it takes to make you a comparable? They play completely different games. Mete's release is very underwhelming. Ghost has one of the best shots in the league for his size. Mete defends in a cerebral way which makes him solid at both ends. Ghost is a stick handler and a scoring play maker who takes risks and gets burned from time to time. Wants to shoot but can dish passes very well also. Perfect PP quarterback. Mete's decision making in the offensive zone is lacking and its painfully obvious. He'll get his points by transitioning the puck to the forwards due to his foot speed and shiftiness. Other than that, the age 20 excuse isn't valid. Yes, he'll get better as he gets older and will score more than his previous two seasons but produce at the rate Ghost has? Not a chance. That's isn't an insult to mete either. Mete right now is probably a better defensive player than Ghost is. The problem is, Habs don't need another defensive minded dman. They need a point producer and a risk taker like Ghost. (Doesn't have to be him specifically but he does make some sense)

Exactly. Perfect analysis of Mete. Mete is really good defensively despite being undersized. He's always a leader in +/- for the habs, he drives play the right way at 5 on 5.

Gostisbehere would help MTL's powerplay immensely. Mete isn't an option on the powerplay because he isn't a shooting threat.

I think Mete may get some pp time here and there because of his shiftiness opening up space but a very limited amount. What I was really impressed with was his play on the PK last half of the season and am excited to see his progression next season.
