Sens have no incentive whatsoever to take Zaitsev off your hands, the leafs would have to add a pick or two, and nobody is giving all that up for kapanen when they can just offer-sheet him for 3-4million and only give up a 2nd round pick

Leafs wouldn't let Kapanen get offer-sheeted. It would be matched and traded.

The point is, Toronto matches any realistic offer sheet easily for Kapanen. Unless a team massively overpays, he's not being lost via offersheet.

As for the trade, I think both teams would be happier with changing all those picks to Carolina's 2019 1st pick. It's gonna be between 28-31 anyways so it's late and it's fair. It'd be similar to when Boston moved Hamilton to Calgary. But I think Toronto internally values Kapanen high and he'll likely be a guy that they keep

Only problem with that is I believe after a player signs an offer sheet and if a team matches it, that player can't be traded for a full calendar year. So if Toronto matched, Kapanen sticks around for at least a year

Zaitsev is just overpayed, Sens basically get a free RD. He would be fine as long as he's paired with Chabot.

Gee you think Miller is top 2 or 4 pairing and you expect him to be had for a fourth line forward? Holl an NHL goalie next year? Hainsey signs so cheap just be play another 21 minutes a night? Still short a roster spot. Much better ways to get rid of cap and still get rid of needed cap.

Brown can score 20 goals (he did it in his rookie season). Hainsey will play for 10-12 minutes a night. No way Woll can be worse than Sparks.

Oilers do not want any of those players, even for a 7th round pick! We have 15 defense already, Bear, Jones, Leggeson and Persson all knocking on the door and our future 1&2 pair Bouchard and Samorukov shortly behind. We need to get rid of defense.
