So i'm not quite sure what's going on but on the UFA sheet says CBJ won Nick Holden at $845K but that is what I bid and I had the 10% bonus. Now on CBJ's page he has him signed at $1.5 for 2 years so I am just looking for clarification on this.

Quick question...Friedge said he doesn't expect Buff to ever play again. Am I able to LTIR him right now until he either gets a contract or announces retirement when I can then terminate his contract?

You can terminate his contract whenever. In the event he does resign, you will have the ability to reoffer the same contract. Aslong as your current contracts length hasn't expired by then.

I thought, as we've done in the past, DD is allowed to terminate Buff's contract but he then becomes a UFA in the game.

Perhaps I'm wrong but I believe that's what we've done in the past on the rare occasion this has happened.

I would think that in signing a fa, it would come w the inherent risk. So you'd be able to ltir him but you'd lose the contract spot. But ill ask what we've done in the past

I get the thought of the risk aspect but if we actually waited until the normal UFA period, we would have also had the news that he likely won't play. I don't feel that GMs should be penalized for the game being rushed.

P.S. My contract limit is fine so if it is determined I have to keep him LTIR'd so be it.

@Turner33

In prior years, if a UFA player signed in game but not in real-life, due to going to a different league or retiring. The team that signed him in-game can remove him from their roster. In the event a player does return, they regain the player for the same contract signed, assuming said contract hasn't expired.

That is how we treated this situations in prior years.

Yes, but it's not Nashville that is open, it's NYI that is open.

Twitter is so toxic though. Also less likely to get fleeced if everyone can see it in motion

Don’t need to be in any group chat, just twitter is preferred and probably should be a required feature to participate.

Stepping away from the game at least for now. Just way too much happening in real life right now. If he's interested, my AGM's twitter is @PercyHockey1, he could potentially take over the team.

Later.

Possibly be back in like one month again lol.

I approached this issue on contract duplicates due to the BOG back on 10/11/20. Since then, there has been no punishment for teams intentionally being dishonest with contracts they signed in 2019. Specifically, teams and GMs took "bad" contracts they signed in 2019 and said they were only one year deals, publishing them as expiring contracts that were signed again this past offseason. Some of the 28 players signed in 2019 who were under contract in 2020 were mistakes and accidents, however, there are multiple players where that option seems implausible. Listed below are the notable contracts were the intention for GMs to get out of their bad signings were obvious.

Colin Wilson - Signed in 2019 by Colorado for $3,850,000 for 3 years. He was signed by Pittsburgh for $1,125,000 for 3 years this offseason.

Joel Edmondson - Signed in 2019 by St. Louis for $3,000,000 for 4 years. He was then signed by Tampa Bay for $2,500,000 for 2 years this offseason.

Wayne Simmonds - Signed in 2019 by Minnesota for $5,500,000 for 4 years. He was then signed by Vancouver for $3,500,000 for 3 years this offseason.

My proposal was that the teams who intentionally removed themselves from the above contracts should be forced to carry the buried cap hit of the original contract for the duration of the original contract, as well as forfeit a roster spot for that player for as long as the original contract. Any "repeat" offenders could be subject to draft pick forfeiture at the BOG's discretion and all other contract duplicates can be determined at an individual level. I know this is a hard issue to navigate, but for teams to simply remove themselves out of contracts they signed because they were short-sided deals negatively affects all other members of this game.

The rules require GMs to list the contracts on the team page so there should be no excuse for the oversight. I agree with Nick's assessment and penalty proposal.

I'll take NYI, I suppose... Not doing the whole twitter thing. Will slap a GM Game Email at the Top of the Description.

- Blame Turner for this decision.

I was thinking maybe we do a waiver window here soon. Maybe we don't have to send everyone down right away.
But it keeps the game moving, helps teams get closer to setting opening night rosters
