If that's all it took to get DeBrincat Nylander would be on the Chicago shuttle....

Debrincat is probably no 1 untouchable on Chicago, there some legacy that some may argue higher. But I believe the build starts with him

It is not massively favouring the Leafs. DeBrincat is better than Nylander but if Willy is traded its for RHD due to positional needs. Not another sniper despite that sniper being great..

LMAO....it's not even close. Debrincat is worth a lot more then Nylander. 41 goals...versus Nylander who has only scored 1/2 that amount in his best year. 76 points...versus Nylander who in his best year could only put up 61 points. Best part about this; Nylander did it with Matthews on his line, Debrincat did it anchoring his own line with Strome and a rotation of Kahun and Perlini.

It would take a 1st round pick and Nylander for the hawks to even consider it.

I mean, he’s twice the player Nylander is and on his elc. Cmon. Nylander has 55 goals in 239 games and debrincat has 69 in 164. It’s robbery

He is different type of player. Nylander is not a sniper, DeBrincat is. Nylander is playmaker tho, which Debrincat isnt. How many assists does DeBrincat have? See.. Toronto has goalscorers, not on level of DeBrincat but we have them. I would love to have DeBrincat but in this configuration the team is in, I would keep Nylander. Playmakers are harder to develop then goalscorers imo. As I said, I would love to have Debrincat on Leafs. I dont see Chicago trading him and i dont see Leafs trading Nylander.

Well, under a half assist a game doesn’t really fire me up. So you don’t see Nylander being traded...how does this all fit? A major salary has to go

Marleau is reported to be going (not retiring, just being traded to west coast with some salary retained), Zaitsev is likely moved but I would keep him, Brownie is gone pretty much, Kadri is talked about as one of the guys being gone so.. there would be ways to shed salary.

I dont have it with me always, would look for it. The report (which I personally think is not really reliable) stated that his family and kids are moving back to SJ where his kids are going to school and he has deal done with Dubas that he would try to trade him to west coast team or Yotes so he would be closer to them.. as I said, I dont know if it is truthful or not so Im reserved on that. I believe he is not a Leaf next year but not in this fashion. I wish he is not a Leaf next year. I dont count with him in Leafs team next year. You automatically assume he isnt going anywhere because he has NMC, many guys are traded despite that NMC and NTC even though they are doubted as wanting out. I would be surprised if he is a Leaf next year tbh but anything can happen.

I read it. Acting the Fulemin is great guy! I think we would not have Marleau on our team next year still. We might! And if we have cap space for him? Sure I would not have a problem with that. I like Patty. I just.. feel that he is not a Leaf next year. We would see what happens. Should be interesting.

explain why you think he'll be gone. It seems kind of naive.

It is not naive, its just an opinion. I think he would accept a trade to another team after lenghty discussions with Kyle and other folks. Leafs would retain some salary on that deal and add pick but they would pull it off. I just feel that way.. would be interesting to see what happens.

what would be his motivation for doing so? If they were a stronger contender? How many contenders can afford over 3 million for a 4th liner?

If they were a stronger contender exactly. Maybe Sharks? If they dont resign EK they would have cap space to do so and mentor like Marleau for young guns like Chekhovich and such would be good.

but if they don't re-sign karlsson, are they really a stronger contender? See what's going on here? It's really tough to find a contender that has that kind of cap space to kill. Near impossible.

I think they are as strong as before with or without EK. They still have great D core and forwards developing into great performers. I think Leafs would be stronger contender than Sharks from 2020 on, not before that.
