ABSOLUTELY

There is no way the BOG should've ever allowed one team to acquire so many players on retained cap hits.

I third this. It’s absolutely BS why a certain player “hint hint” has players who have no business being retained. And he gets third parties to retain on all his trades. So annoying

also while we are suggesting things... how about we take a look at montreals team and then come up with a better way to treat trade retention... its happening way too much im not the only one who thinks this way and it is def one of the reasons this game gets ruined so quickly. certain players should not be traded with retention. Ive brought this up countless times but its not the norm for teams to retain any amount of cap... especially beyond 1 year.

To add on a bit... we haven’t played a version where a rebuilding team ever got a chance to see what their prospects turned into. Obviously some prospects take more than 2 years to develop but when we only get one season in you really can’t evaluate any prospect development whatsoever. At least with two seasons we can see some of that. Would also force some of the fringe contenders to re-evaluate their teams and possibly be forced to change direction

17 trades in the nhl this year. there was 1 that the player retained was beyond 1 year of contract value left. i.e. 16 out of 17 were rentals. the ONLY player who was traded with more than 1 year left was backes and the ducks only took 75% of his value.

"Life came at me pretty fast the last couple weeks, so unfortunately I will be stepping down from BOG. I know we just had a revote for a new BOG, and I apologize for contributing to the consistent BOG turnover. While I could continue being BOG for the next few weeks, I think it's better for me to step down now and get a member to replace me before free agency and such get going. The current BOG of @higgs31 @eklund29 @Gronk and @ItzMeTaboo will collectively decide what the succession plan will be for finding my replacement.

Thanks y'all"

Feel like this is what happened last season... shouldnt we just hold another vote instead of leaving it up to BOG, before people get mad someone wasnt voted in vs appointed.

I'll step up and do it. Idk if will be permanent, but at this unsettled time in the game I think the stable leadership of Dad is needed.

Is anyone opposed to this?

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs are proud to announce that we have signed Jason Spezza to a 1 year contract to become our new assistant coach/power play coordinator.

Paul McPharland has been released to make room for Spezza behind the bench

He doesnt need to retire. His contract has a player option come playoff time so he doesnt need to retire and he still has a chance to win the cup
