then why on earth would VAN actually pay that much for him???

Better yet...
if VAN was actually thought to have interest in Lucic,
then why wouldn’t EDM just make the trade DIRECTLY with them?

Yes VAN would never pay a first ever for Lucic. But the point of these two trade is that if VAN did the trade directly with EDM then he would still cost them 4.5 if only 1.5 mil was retained by EDM. In this scenario VAN would be getting Lucic at 2.5 mil after detroit retained another 2 mil from his cap hit. This trade would never happen likely but READ the trade details before pissing in your pants.

LOL @ a team giving up a first round pick to acquire Lucic at any cap hit. He fits best as a 4th liner. That trade would be in the running for worst deadline deal of all time. Like 1st round pick for Paul Gaustad bad or Forsberg for Erat bad lol.

Why? Would Detroit trade for Lucic only to deal him to Vancouver and retain $2 million on top of it, That's crazy and Yzerman would never do it. Just to slip down 2 spots.

If they did the trade directly,
EDM could hold HALF of Lucic’s ridiculous salary
So VAN would get him at 3mil instead of all this proposed nonsense to get him for 2.5mil

Apparently No one reads the details..typical it's lucic at only 2.5M to a team that's his hometown IS interested in acquiring him if u listen to insiders ..ever...and the full trade is. Lucic & 3rd rd pick (which prob be very close to 2nd rd pick) for the 1st ..READ PEOPLE..whatever

Not saying these trades would happen but EDM could not afford to retain 3 mil with there cap situation, so in this situation that would be the point of VAN not doing a Lucic trade directly with EDM.

Cap stuff can be worked out with other players moving or whatever

Right like i said that trade would never happen, but with Edmonton cap situation they cant afford to take a cap dump back because they need every bit of cap they can get to try and add depth. Thats all im saying as to why in this scenario it would be better to not do the trade directly with VAN.
