Get something? Toronto has no interest in Murphy who's a #4/5 d-man. They have guys that a cheaper to fill that role. Connor Murphy isn't an improvement. They need a #2/3 guy. Like a Pesce, Parayko, Dumba, etc. Murphy isn't worth Kapanen, Johnsson, or Hyman. You'd be lucky to get a prospect and a late 2nd rounder for him. Not of interest to Toronto. He'd just be taking up a roster spot that can be filled with a young guy instead for cheap.

Murphy is in my opinion a decent TOP4 D. He'd certainly be beneficial acquisition for a team like TOR. The question is the price. CHI obviously don't have to give him too cheap, but I agree that Kapanen, Johnsson or Hyman are bit too much to ask.

Not if you're a TML fan. The league is set up to help you cover you bad decisions. Or cap problems...

I figured BUF fans wouldn't like it. Though it would make your roster better as of now. Lately Sabres has been the worst f***ing team in the league. (Note: I'm not counting EDM and OTT as teams as of now, they're more of jokes than teams). Some changes could help you. Risto has been pretty much completely useless for your team but maybe he could work in a offense-first team like TOR.

The Buffalo Sabres have 5 more series wins in the cap era than the Toronto Maple Leafs. People forget that.

I'm not a TOR fan, so I don't really care. The distant past has absolutely no meaning as of now though. Except for only EDM who still lives back in the 80's when their teams still were something more than an epic joke.

Yea, but we're not making trades to make trades. This trade doesn't help our team or cap. I expect and want Risto gone, but I'm sure there are 29 other teams who would take him in the price is right. Plus I do not expect us to trade with the team pegged as our biggest rival.

We do need a 2C, but not at the cost of the guy we expect to be our 2C in a year or 2. Nylander would be an upgrade at W but not at the cost of our 1G(for now). IMO any trade for Zaitsev is more of a plus for TOR than the team trading for him, he's that bad and the size of his cap hit.

We don't need more picks, we need players who can help our team.

Also, Casey's value is still extremely high. Just because in year 1 he did have a ROY campaign, doesn't mean he's worth less. Multiple times Casey was absolutely shredding another team but would put it off the post.

We're bad because we Tanked for 2 years to get all this draft capital and our franchise player, then the GM took all those assets and overpayed for overhyped guys and couldn't draft for ****. Then our next GM had to spend his first 2 years fixing that GMs mess. I expect a much better team next year.

Mittelstadt's ceiling > Kadri currently (just got suspended for a horribly undisciplined play, and factored into Toronto throwing the series)
Risto = Nylander
Ullmark > Zaitsev + 20-25 OA
Add in division rivals and contracts, this is way tilted in Torontos favor. Immediately and down the road. Risto hasnt been useless, thats stupid. The team failed not just him and it was clearly a coaching issue

Zaitsev is basically on the move due to cap reasons, and Ullmark definitely is not worth a 1st.

That trade was constructed like this
Nylander+1st = Mittelstadt+Ullmark
Kadri = Ristolainen
Zaitsev = 7th

Honestly Ullmark is not that big of a part in the deal. He can be dropped if that's the issue.
