... it's playoffs. It's always tougher to score in playoffs. A point per game is pretty hard to do in playoffs. He's was right close to it..
Every single year that he was in the playoffs dating right back to his draft year the story is the same - less production in the playoffs. Here's a comparison of career postseason vs regular season p/gp:
Stamkos: 0.76 / 1.03 = 73.8%
Crosby: 1.13 / 1.29 = 87.6%
Malkin: 1.04 / 1.18 = 88.1%
Kane: 0.97 / 1.04 = 93.3%
Tavares: 0.93 / 0.94 = 98.9%
Toews: 0.86 / 0.86 = 100%
-- teammates --
Kucherov: 0.94 / 1.03 = 91.3%
Point: 0.81 / 0.86 = 94.2%
Hedman: 0.57 / 0.60 = 95%
Johnson: 0.75 / 0.66 = 113.6%
Killorn: 0.60 / 0.50 = 120%
None of these guys experience the same scoring drop that Stamkos does. I'm not musing on reasons why, I'm just pointing out the facts.
