I think its a great idea, after watching Makar from UMass last night (first half of the game, not second!) who is in contention with Fox for the Hobey Baker award. Stealing him from the Rags would lessen the blow of them getting 2 OA! I would think many teams are thinking similar ideas. NYRs have a need so it may need more lifting, the Q pick probably helps that, maybe he finds his touch in Carolina.

I'm not a fan of EK, he'll get paid and breakdown half way through some monster contract. I'd rather look at a Risto/Hamilton etc type guy bigger, good skater less offensive. I would also get more speed See what Wings want for AA,. And take on a few bad contracts for players about to breakout, like Kapanen in Tor

1) The overpayment for Fox may be needed to keep him away from the Rags. and like you mentioned, a lot of teams will be in the mix for him.
2) I am worried about EKs durability too but those first 3-4 seasons might be worth the price/term. We can always trade him after.
3) There is a missing piece offensively in this proposal. Hall needs support. Hughes & Ferland may not be enough but we need to keep money reserved for Nico and Hughes.
