Not really the biggest issue as the bruins would never agree to that deal. I actually think backes will retire after July 1st. He’s not going to be played, and has concussion issues

That would be nice, I have a hard time believing he would leave 8M on the table though. Boston has deep pockets, is it illegal to pay him $8M to be a condition coach?

I think it’s only 4 million after July 1st.

Maybe he goes ltir for a year. The concussion issue with him is legit

Sorry my mistake, its actually 5M he walks away from. He will get his 3M signing bonus on July 1st then, miss out on 1M salary next season, 1M signing bonus and 3M Salary in 2020-2021. I agree concussion related issues could end up being a real issue with him though.
