Just out of curiosity, why don't you like it? Donato's shot is legit and he's worked on his skating a lot according to Corey Pronman. He's an offensive goal-scoring center, something we've wanted forever.

To be honest, I need to see more of Donato to decide whether or not I like the trade. However, based on Fenton's recent past...when I read about skating issues, I assume the worst.
Plus, the AHL is littered with goal scorers that weren't quite fast enough to play in the NHL...

Here's what Pronman has to say (Donato was Boston's best prospect prior to the season and Pronman projects him to be a top 6 forward):
"VERY GOOD NHL PROSPECT

1. Ryan Donato, C, Harvard-ECAC

What a season Donato had. He was one of the best players in college hockey, led the Olympic men’s tournament in goals and was quite good for the Bruins down the stretch. Donato is highly skilled, showing great hands and ability to create chances for himself and teammates. He’s also a top-end goal scorer who can score from a distance, generates a ton of shots on goal and prefers to shoot when given a chance. What was important to how he’s improved as a prospect was getting his skating to be quicker. I have some questions on how strong he’ll be away from the puck in the NHL, but the offensive potential is top-six level for sure."

Agreed. I'm actually glad we got a prospect over a pick for Coyle, and out of all of Boston's center prospects, Donato seems like he has the highest upside. I just wish he were a right shot...

Side note: time to get a new jersey. Coyle was the only real jersey I owned (I have a fake red Parise and fake stadium series Koivu).

Edit: sounds like Donato has a lot of chemistry with Greenway from the Olympics which adds an interesting dynamic to the trade.

I think this a very fair trade for both ends.
Boston gets a player in Coyle that recently a 50 points player
Minnesota get player That cane become a very legitimate Goal scorer as you stated if he only was a right shot and in my opinion he should be out project at center play him the AHL at center and see how he does

IF...IF Donato pans out as a middle 6 center, I will be very happy with this trade. As for now, I'm so so. I still think Nino and Coyle were two of the last players Fenton should have traded, but what the hell do I know? I hope the dominoes continue to fall and Zucker, Granlund, and Spurgeon are next.
