Montreal isn't trading Danault for Maatta HAHA. You would have to give us Guentzel and Montreal would still probably reject.

you’re right, MTL wouldn’t trade danault for maatta. But you’re delusional if you think danault is worth more than Jake Guzental haha

I'm just saying. Danault is one of the better shutdown centers in the league. He constantly faces the other teams top lines, is on pace for 59 points and has a 53% Faceoff percentage against other team's top lines. He is a very underrated player.

I’m well aware of that. I think he’s very good. but Jake Guzental has been a nightmare for the opposition in the playoffs, and is gonna get over 30 goals 75+ points this season. Say what you want about the Crosby effect, but this is definitely Sids most skilled linemate he’s had his entire career (aside from Hossa for the 08 cup run)

Danault is a center who doesn't play with Sidney Crosby and is one of the better defensive centers in the league. I would rather that over a scoring threat winger who is boosted by Crosby.

Lmao dude he’s a 2/3C. He’s good, but settle down lmao. He’s a 50-60 point guy verse a 70-80 point 30+ goal guy. Danault is like a better Faska. Guzental has wayyyyy more value. Guezental is also great defensively for a winger. Look at his Stats this season. He’s really coming into form as a premier winger in this league

The thing I really like about jake is how smart he is.
Did you see him bait Couturier off the ice last night. That was such high level play it's not even funny. He knew finishing his check would cause a scrum. He was hoping not to get called on it himself and even it up. But even if he did get called on it, he know he was dragging their best offensive player out the game. Just brilliant.

Again, we are talking about a center vs winger that both face top opposition. One plays a more important role on the ice and isn't boosted by his teammates.

Danault is a very good #2-#3 Center and I really like how he plays but lets simmer dahn on thinking he is even close to Guentzel

Except Danault plays with 1 of the best and most under rated RWers in the game in Gallagher and a good a** LWer named Drouin

Read my previous comment. One is a center that is the most important player on the ice. The other plays with Sidney Crosby.

I agree centre is a more valuable role, and if danault was a 70-80 point C he’d be a more valuable player, but he isn’t. The gap between production is gonna be over 10+ goals and 20 points. It’s not close

Having Drouin on his line requires him to focus on defense even more.

One also plays with Sidney Crosby (arguably the best player in the world). I would rather have a 60 point defensive center over a 70 points winger. Just my opinion.

Dude you’re gonna be one of the few people who actually think danault is better than Guzental lmao. That’s like saying Johansen is better than Marchand cause one plays centre and one plays wing and Marchand plays with great players. The production gap speaks for itself

Marchand is a 100 pt player, Johansen isn't required to play defense like Danault is. Johansen benefits from the team he is around wheras Danault doesn't have that ability. You can't compare the two.

Okay I’ll use Taresenko Vs Derick Stepan. Same logic where one is a Two way centre and one is a high skill winger. Even though centres are more valuable, if the gap is THAT big, I’ll take the high skill winger. Anyways, agree to disagree because neither of us are gonna change our opinions.

Once again, Danault is on pace for 60 points this season, Stepan at 28 has a career high of 56 points. Guentzel's career high goals is 27 playing beside Crosby. Tarasenko's career high in goals is 40 playing beside Statsny and Steen (Highest scorer on team by 22 points).

This comparison is even worse.

Stepan’s best year was actually when he didn’t play a full season. He would’ve gotten over 65 points. Stepan used to be a very solid C not sure how he is now. I’m not comparing Guzental to senko obviously. I’m saying the gap between Guzental and Danault is similar to the gap between Senko to Stepan, and not a single GM would take Stepan over senko. Same as Guzental Vs Daunlt. You’re entitled to your opinion, but facts would suggest otherwise.

How are they Similar? Danault is better than Stepan and Tarasenko is better than Guentzel. You haven't said any facts in this entire conversation, I don't know what facts you are suggesting that state otherwise, but you are entitled to your opinion.

Lmao Stepan was better than danault. 100% he was. Maybe not now, but prime Stepan was better than Danault right now. Anyways I’m done with this argument haha. It’s pretty clear whose the better player between Danault and Guzental when you compare regular season stats, playoff stats, and advanced stats.

Never had above a 47.7% faceoff win percentage, in his prime days, he never started more than 45.5% in the defensive zone. They put up around the same numbers... So time to give me some facts on why Stepan is better than Danault.

One guy plays center, shuts down opposing lines, has above 50% winning face-off percentage doing so, Leads his line, puts up 60 points a season. While the other guy is a 70 PT winger that plays with Crosby, but please keep telling me how he is better.

Okay buddy I tried to be nice but you’re frustrating me. Even my Habs fan friends think you’re wrong lmao.
Stepan Prime > Danult. He lead a team to a Stanley cup finals and put up much more points plus he was very solid defensively. 55/60 points Then is more than 55/60 points now. Stepan also had a much better PPG so he was clearly the better player. All danault had him was on face offs.
Agree to disagree and leave it at that

**edit**
Guzentals defensive metrics are just as good / better than Danault this year so whose really the shut down guy + puts up more points haha
