Thoughts? More from Van to pry Carlo even with Boston getting rid of Backes?

Boston gets rid of 34yr old Backes and saves $1.625M AAV on the cap over the next two seasons. Sutter (29) provides them a reliable bottom 6 forward (they are uncomfortable having their bottom 6 out for defensive zone draws right now). Granlund adds a player that can go up and down the lineup and also play reliable defensively (will be cheap to resign if they want). Pouliot is for Defence depth this season since they lose Carlo.

Canucks have the cap space to take on the extra $1.625M of Backes over Sutter. Carlo is a 22yr old right hand dman that would be a very nice piece for Vancouver.

Carlo would be tough for Boston to give up but they do have strong dmen and prospects in Vaakanainen, Zboril, Lauzon.

Boston says no. Wait till the off-season after Backes bonus is paid and then trade him. He'll be owed $5 million over the next two years total.

Also Vaak, Lauzon, Zboril are all LHD...our RHD stop at McAvoy and Carlo

I'd definitely pass on trading Carlo for that package. You aren't getting back anything of quality.

Every team in the league has a couple Granlund's or Pouliot's they'd be willing to package for Carlo. Dumping Backes for someone who costs less than 2 million less doesn't make sense. Sutter is just as bad as Backes and he's literally never outscored Backes in a season in terms of points per game. He's also only been above .5ppg once and it was in 2009-2010. This season Sutter is at .24ppg and Backes is at .33ppg, so he's still worse. This trade just stinks so bad that I wish I could give it a 1 star.

Does not really matter what each side would do. Backes not waiving his NMC for Nucks. However, B’s not trading Carlo, or any quality piece to move Backes in a deal that does not bring value back. Sutter and Granlund are not bad adds for Boston, but not at the cost of Carlo.

Still the issue of Backes NTC., and getting back 4.3m Sutter isn't great for the Bruins either. Carlo is way to big a piece to give up for the Bruins.

This package is putrid. Ridiculously putrid. Trade a shutdown Top 4 defenseman for an overpaid #3 center, The mediocre Granlund and a bust defenseman?
