Description

Plan for the deadline: Put Kesler on IR and see what you've got at the start of next season. His contract is bad, but if he is still injured, then LTIR is their for a reason. Detroit can at least squeeze a prospect out of it, and remove a contract at the same time. Ducks management can't afford to pay Kesler not to play, it's a reclamation project for Detroit.

It should be noted that Kronwall, Ericsson, Daley and Vanek will all be of off the books over the next 2 years, and Howards salary will likely go down. Cap will not be an issue going forward.

1st trade: Detroit is better off resigning Nyquist.

2nd trade: No one wants Helm over paid and always hurt. I don't know if Hicketts will make it back to the NHL. He played 8 games early in the season and the only stat he recorded was -6. Plus they've been calling up Lashoff over him. No way Ana goes for that.

3rd trade: I can't see anyone spending a 4th on Witkowski.

4th trade: Vanek 3rd or 4th rd pick. Last season Vancouver got 2 players for him Jussi Jokinen is no longer in the NHL and Tyler Motte who has played 45 games for Vancouver. The season before Detroit got a 3rd and Dylan McIlrath who hasn't played a game for Detroit in 3 seasons. Detroit can get more for Jensen or just resign him.
