My question with Coyle is this... If he likes it here, then why not hold onto him and try to sign him to a long term contract at a discount? he's a very useful 2/3C. If the wild end up in a rebuild then he's holding a spot while young guys develop. If they become competitive then he's a discounted player that allows for money to be spent else where. I think the price of centers is going to become extremley high, so if we can keep Coyle for say 6 years at around what he's making now I think we should wait till this summer to find out.

The way Coyle has been playing now that he's a full-time center makes him one of the very last players I would consider trading. I (if I were GM) would have to be absolutely blown away with an offer to move him. Only Dumba and Greenway (as of today) are valued more by me than Coyle for the long-term health of this franchise.

Very fair point. He'll always be useful. He'd be extremely useful if say we don't re-sign Staal this summer.

For me at least, I'd like to see us get rid of some of the players with absolute defeatist mentalities when their game isn't on. We've had that problem for years, and Coyle is the biggest culprit of that. Also, we see glimpses of the player that he can be, and for a lot of fans it's simply just become to painful to hope he'll turn his game around when slumping. He's solid right now but he could definitely be one of our first few 'tweaks'.

Granlund has the most value other than Dumba, but yeah Greenway should be untouchable. When Zucker's game is on and he's flying, he's absolutely more valuable than Coyle.

I see what you're saying though. He's versatile. And maybe him centering Parise will indeed turn his game for the better.

the Staal trade is very realistic. WIN needs another center to go all the way. Their 1st round would be ranked around 25-31 so has not to much value.

Montreal would do this deal in a heartbeat. Juulsen is going to be a a good DD but there is others RD in the pipeline and Coyle would become our 1st line RW de facto. I think Bergevin would give up 2nd round for a 26 yo player with a year left.

In reality, MIN wont do any of this, stay an average team and get out in the first round.

You did good though...
