Something about no state tax...... $7.3 million maybe ballpark. $9 million in Toronto......... minimum, cuz we Canadians are lovin' those taxes.

For a $9M salary.. a player on Tampa takes home $1.485M more than a Toronto player. This is only taxes paid; add cost of living and figure 20%. Tampa not in cap hell but does need to dump 2 contracts of good/not great players and not plan on getting much back. But these are role players with 3 to 4 rookies getting lots of playing time now and this Spring
My gut says Miller and Callahan go as package to Western conference playoff team.

Umm...like I said, Stevie Y. signed almost everyone to a NTC so the players not the GM has control over who can be traded away. He's leaving this team because the future is looking very messy. Miller's NTC doesn't come into effect until next season, so he can be traded at this years deadline or on draft day(more likely) so the team has money to sign Point. Interestingly Kucherov didn't get a NTC, trade bait material for some serious cheap talented ELC players. Callahan walks as a UFA in 2020 but his money goes to RFA Sergachev.

Nah .. his money needs to go to Vas not Sergachev .. Sergachev is interesting case on what will happen with him. Not a slam dunk he gets 3rd big D contract and with emergence of Cernack and if Foote is real deal as advertised, he never will and is great trade bait.
As I said, Miller packaged with Callahan .. opening up nearly $11M solves most of cap issues.. Girardi Stralman and Colburn all leave at year end.. another $12M freed .. cap is very manageable ..

Well maybe if you're talking about personal income taxes. But since they really don't apply it's not an issue.

Well, much of the personal tax rate doesn't apply. Wonder who has the cap to take Callaghan, especially a team that is suitable to his trade list.

Maybe Tampa's bones can be picked?
Johnson likely gone..
Their D will be younger, but weaker.
Maybe lose Vas?
Let's see. .,-~

Point gets around 8 to 8.5. Callahan becomes salary cap victim. Package a pick or prospect to move his contract. His contract is only one year and actual salary under 5 mill. We can keep the team intact for one more year. The following year is when we need to shed a couple of contracts. The good news is that most have only partial no trade contracts. If we don't win the cup this year then there may be a greater shake up after the season.

NTC's aren't as bad as they used to be. New CBA made sure of that. I believe all of them have clause's such as "10 teams no-trade list" so they can all still be traded, just to a slightly more select group of teams. It's NMC's such as Callahan's that cause real hell.

Whos the odd man out? I think it’s JT Miller. He’s the only one without any NTC etc. and he starts a full NTC next year.
