No way. Parayko for Nylander is a fair deal, regardless of what some haters may or may not think. However, since the Blues need Parayko way more than the Leafs need Nylander, it will never happen.

That is not necessarily true. Furthermore, Nylander is 21 years old, controllable and has the ability and will most likely one day play centre, his natural position. Nylander's international accolades clearly speak for themselves and if he was on any other team, there's no question he'd be a top line player through and through. This brings me back to the Seth Jones-for-Ryan Johanson deal a few years back, even though I know a lot of people out there will point to Hall-for-Larsson. Truth is, as I already mentioned, St. Louis needs Parayko, where the Leafs do not need Nylander, which is where I see it potentially costing the Leafs more. However, from a true fair perspective, a 1-for-1 hockey trade is definitely more fair than it is more unfair.

Might be an overpayment? Pretty large one. Nylander for Paryko is fair value. Blues won’t do it. Bur it’s fair.

You are right though. An overpayment like this is what it would take for them to consider it.

I agree with you that TO and St Louis just aren't in the right positions to trade with each other. St Louis could use Nylander, but to get him it would cost their 2nd best defenceman and I don't think they have an appetite for that.

In regards to the trade you proposed, its just silly. Parayko isn't worth Nylander in a straight up deal. He's an extremely good defender but he's not elite in any aspect, just really good in most categories. Nylander is elite in a lot of ways and average in a few others. That being said, why I don't see a trade between these teams is because for either sqaud to get enough value to make a trade make sense, one side is going to have to lose the deal outright. And trading too much assets to fill a hole generally just creates holes elsewhere.

You have proven that without a doubt, the trade here would take 2 of TO's 4 RW out, and a 50 point defenceman for just 1 RHD. That is a terrible trade to make, it fills one hole and creates 2 more bigger holes up front.
