The D in particular is well suited to accomplishing your objective. And holy toledo are the Habs forwards ever small!

But they're fast! LOL
Let the young guys play all season and trade Pleks, Shaw, Schlem, Benn, Tat and Alz at the deadline if you can!
Sadly still won't secure Hughes but could be close.

Yes, just enough speed and talent here to finish 6th or 7th last overall. Maybe** they pull a Carolina and move up in the draft, but not quite sure they are going to win the Jack Hughes sweepstakes. Ottawa will be tough competition for that prize.

as long as Karlsson and Stone are still in Ottawa next season, they are easily better than this team lol, this team is good for a top 3 finish

There's no way to secure Hughes, but Rafael Lavoie would be a nice consolation prize. Who knows, if they stink in 2020, they could land Lafreniere and suddenly you'd have a French Connection and a team that's hard to beat.

You're assuming this is one of Anderson's "good" years.

Since Ottawa does not have a 1st round pick in 2019, I think they are out as well but that still doesn't help the Habs. And Ottawa can still get a 1st for trading any one of Karelsson, Duchesne or Stone; mind you it wouldn't be for a top pick if they go to contenders.
