Larsson and Duchene (EDM/OTT trades)

Description
Oilers get a top 6 winger for McDavid and an Edmonton native top pairing RHD that excels at transitioning the puck.

Ottawa gets a 1st round pick, a 3rd pairing LHD with potential to grow into a 2nd pairing D, and an interim 1C that they can sell at the deadline to grow their picks/prospects and assist their rebuild.

These aren't super realistic, this was more just for fun.

MASSIVE overpayment for larsson and Strome, OTT declines big time, an aging Stall, even if he still scores 20+ is not worth a younger C

Staal 20+ goals?? Did he JUST scored 42 goals?? Did he just recorded a 76pts & a 65pts season?? Doesn't he have an average of 30 goals a season in his ENTIRE CAREER?? (395 goals in 1093 NHL games). Didn't he showed, in the past 2 seasons, that he wasn't slowing down at all??

We must not talk about the same player...clearly.

I could see EDM doing a deal centering around Strome for Spurgeon but they aren’t giving up Larsson in the deal.

The point is for Ottawa to sell Staal at the deadline... You clearly didn't read my description. They could get another 1st for Staal giving them 2 in this year's draft.

Duchene is 6 years younger than Staal and much faster. We got a lot slower last year with the Buffalo trade and Duchene would help out considerably in that department. He is a wash production-wise, however. There's also no guarantee Duchene would come here as a UFA so trading for him with an extension in place would guarantee that.

Yep agreed. Like I said this isn't realistic, just for fun.

Eric Staal age 33, Matt Duchene age 27 END OF STORY. does not mater if he scored 100 goals in his last 2 years each, Duchene is younger and will be good longer than Staal has years left in the NHL.

But by the time the Sens rebuild Duchene will be just hitting, if not over, 30 years old. That wouldn't give them much time to compete while he's still in his prime. Why not just sell him to a contending team before he walks in free agency? The Sens aren't going to go on a cup run for the next few years and Duchene wanted to be on a cup contending team, hence his request to get out of Colorado. Like I said in my previous post, the plan wouldn't be to keep Staal, they'd sell him at the deadline to try and get 2 1st round picks after making this trade. Staal just acts as an interim 1C while the ones they have develop.

I think it’s safe to say that there’s NO CHANCE IN HELL, that Staal agrees to go to Ottawa
They’d DEFINITELY be on his 10 team no trade list

Yep. I generally ignore NTC's and NMC's to make things more interesting, but as I said in my description these trades aren't realistic this was just for fun. I just try to make fair trades and address both teams needs, especially if I'm trading a crucial position for said team (this happens here where OTT loses their 1C and EDM loses their 1RD so I fill those holes that what they give up would create).
