Quantity over quality doesn't work anymore in the NHL. OTT would not accept that deal. Heiskanen or a Faksa/Shore and two 1st pick. Also, DAL has to protect themselves by sending conditonnal picks (if EK65 resign).

I think any team that missed the playoffs then trades two 1st round picks for one player is crazy. Don't think this team makes the playoffs with their injury prone forward unit that has no depth.

We're talking about the cost to acquire a player, here, not wether or not you think this makes them a playoff team or not or if it's the right move for them or not. If you want to argue, please make sure you know what we're talking about first. Thank you.

I said nothing about arguing. DAL simply won't give up that package at that price. I doubt any team will at this point.

WAY LESSER players have been traded for more than that. What's your point? No one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, thought Sakic would get the return he got for Matt Duchene, last november. Why would Dorion settle for anything remotely close to what Sakic got for Duchene? EK65 is worth 10 times what M.D. is

1. Karlsson has an NTC, more difficult for OTT to move him
2. Karlsson has been shopped since the deadline
3. Ottawa has little negotiating leverage, teams know they want a 1st round pick badly because of the Duchene deal
4. Not many teams can afford his extension (Demand goes down, price goes down. Simple economics)
5. Trading Karlsson almost guarantees 2 things :
A. Ottawa is a basement team, giving Colorado a playoff spot as well as a top 10 pick B. The 1st rounder they get will likely be in the late 20s, not a good drafting spot for a basement team
