2. Karlsson has been shopped since the deadline
3. Ottawa has little negotiating leverage, teams know they want a 1st round pick badly because of the Duchene deal
4. Not many teams can afford his extension (Demand goes down, price goes down. Simple economics)
5. Trading Karlsson almost guarantees 2 things :
A. Ottawa is a basement team, giving Colorado a playoff spot as well as a top 10 pick B. The 1st rounder they get will likely be in the late 20s, not a good drafting spot for a basement team
