I think it's too much $$ because of his age. However, the term, as well as the fact that it's not a 35+ contract, alleviate it.

Vegas was kind of in a tough spot here. They don't exactly have anyone in the system that could take over #1 duties and the goalie market next off-season is pretty bad outside of BOB. I think its more than he's worth and what Vegas wanted to pay, but now they know they have stability in the crease for four years and they can focus on continuing to build towards a SC run again. Very similar to what happen with Boston and Rask back in 2013.

Good signing. They kept the term at a reasonable length. He'll be 37 at the end which seems to be when the truly good goalies begin to really fall off. They have nobody to replace him and this gives them 4 years to find someone. It's a lot of money but should be completely worth it for Vegas.

Good deal for Vegas. People have said every year that Lundqvist and Luongo are finished, too.

Some guys here seems to forget what Fleury represents to Vegas. He's more than their top goalie who leads the team to the SC and already win 3 of them. He's their leader, he's an example for any other Vegas player, he's one of the best team players of the league and he's nothing less than Knights franchise player.

That's why he deserves each million of his next contract.

I like it. He's a three time Cup winner, and a top ten goalie for sure. You can make the case he will regress next season from his insane first year in Vegas, but this is still a good deal.

Fleury is over thirty, proven goalie having won several Stanley cups as no 1 or no 2 in a different organization, moved and went all the way to the final. Rask had been 2nd behind Thomas, going back and forth, went deep in the playoffs once, was young and was making his first big deal, expectations were high and he still had a lot to prove. Nothing in their situation is same. Bad comparison.

Except for the fact that both teams were coming off failed SCF appearance with teams built to make more runs. VGK has no one that can take over for MAF if he left and Boston had no one in place if Rask had left. I'd disagree that its a bad example considering you're comparing age and track record and I'm considering team situations and their ability to make cup runs.

You have to remember Fleury is one of the faces of the franchise. He was the best Goalie in free agency. The Knights also have a lot of financial flexibility for the next three years. It's overpayment, but its fine, and I expected it.

Agree with Theycallmenas. A bit of an overpay, like the term though.

Tell me a year there's been a surplus of no1 goalies. You have to pay in order to keep your core intact. Also in Rask they didn't know exactly what they were getting, in Fleury it's quite the opposite.

That's the point, teams don't tend to let #1's get to the market often because they understand how important it is to have stability in the backend. I'm honestly not sure where you're trying to go with this lol. My comparison between BOS/VGK was that both were failed SCF appearance and at the time they were built to make additional runs, but had no goalie in the system to be the #1 guy should their current #1 walk. You can look at whatever comparison you want and say they are not the same, but in mine comparison they are. Clearly this is going to just continue to go in a circle, so with that I'm going to just walk away. You're more than welcome to reply, but I'm not going to read it....let alone see it.

What are you trying to get at here? That almost 2.5 years after this deal was signed that Vegas was supposed to know Robin Lehner would be available for a cheap price?
Hindsight is 20/20. Congrats.
