If the things don't get fixed between Phil and Sullivan...

Description
First of all: I don't wanna see Phil leaving. He's a key player on our team and I don't see any real problem in what he did when he complained about his line change in playoffs. In fact, he's right, cause not just most of his best games were playing alongside Geno, cause Geno's best were playing alongside Phil either.

But if JR want to trade him anyway, I'd like to see that coming for Panarin (with the guarantee that Pens will re-sign to him for something like what I put here).

I think Gerbe would give Pens a little more depth and speed. So, I'm sure he would be a good fit in our scheme and would be a good asset to get on that trade (putting his injuries aside).

I don't like the terms to Jack Johnson's contract. 5 years to an inconsistent player would be too risky. But the rumours are too strong about that coming, so, unfortunately, it's pretty likely that we'll see that coming when FA begins.

As for Winnik, well...to me, he would bring depth and an improve on our physical game and PK.

PS: Obviously I'd prefer to see Kunitz be signing. But the rumours are strong that he'd have some good offers on his table. So, unfortunately for us, it's unlikely to see he coming back.

PS.2: I'm sure that will be some disagrees about the value in Phil/Panarin's trade. But that's my opinion about what would be a fair value.

i will be one of those people that disagrees on both the trade and the extension. Columbus if they have to trade panarin, might as well get prospects, or two good players. panarin is in the beginning of his prime right now and kessel is about to be 31. i know he had a monster year last year, and he is worth a lot right now, but i don't think a team would trade panarin for that. also panarin if he were to go to free agency right now or talk about extensions for a trade, minimum 8.5-9m a year for him.

You probably right about most of the things u said. I only disagree about Columbus get prospects. They need to build a team to win in the next 2, 3 or 4 years at most. But when u have a chance to play with Sid and Geno, 2 of the best players of all time, maybe he could accept to re-sign and get Pens some discount. Besides, play in a team with another russian superstar could improve the chances to see that happens. Who knows...but if Panarin really want to reach the market, then Pens should never make such offer. And probably won't to.

Anyway, in this scenario, that's what I think Pens should try to do so.

Pls, tell me why, cause Idk his reasons to play just for the western teams. In fact, we all know that most of the best league teams are in Eastern Conference. Pens, Bruins, Bolts, Caps...you probably know some Panarin's personal reasons to say that.

The reason he plays in the west is because that’ll be where he’s traded..... unless it’s a three way trade or a flipped trade like Hoffman was. There’s no way Columbus would be dumb enough to trade Panarin to an eastern conference team let alone one in their own division. Also Kessel wouldn’t play in Columbus so it’s a waste of a trade for Columbus, knowing there’s no way Kessel plays for Tortz.

Penguins flat out reject that deal, hang the phone up on you in mid sentence. It's not even close to value.
You can talk up Panarin all you want. He's not coming on a $6 million contract for the next 4 years. He's be 34 when the contract is up and will have spent the last useful years of his career on a very low cap hit. There is no better value anywhere in the game today. Panarin isn't even close to that in value.
We get Panarin for the next 4 years at $6 mil you can come talk to me. But until then forget it. Kessels cap hit looks better and better every year.

Man, look at his production and you'll figure out that you're out of your mind to think that Panarin will sign with any team for just 6M/year. He surely deserves better. He had 2 plus 30 goals seasons with Hawks and he breaks Columbus single season points record in his first season playing there. 82 points in 81 games. You're definitely out of your mind. Sorry.

That makes pretty sense. Columbus would be stupid to trade him for a divisional rival. But a 3 way trade would solve the problem.

Panarin is a rental and probably will want to reach the market. So, that's something that drops his value. I don't think Columbus will get for him what they really want to. All the other teams knows that and will take some advantage.

I am a little confused with your wording but think I understand what you are trying to say. Kessel has been terrific for the Pens! He also hasn’t missed a game in the past 8 seasons! Wow! As for the Breadman, I agree he will be asking for a lot more than $7.5M AAV, especially if he has another great year with the Jackets.
