Florida just swoops in and robs everyone

Remember when Florida shipped off Marchessault and Smith for money issues, and now they add Hoffman? Seems to be contradictory.

San Jose just made four million dollars appear out of thin air. That means JT is gonna hear a lot from them

Yes 4m and they get a second rounder. It's like bank or broker transaction, who don't really do much much work but always get a percentage which add up.

So essentially San Jose gets:

4th round pick
5th round pick
5th round pick
$4 million in cap space

In exchange for:

Mikkel Boedker
6th round pick
7th round pick

I don't think this is enough for hoffman. And no, the Sharks aren't getting Tavares

It just got a lot easier for them to offer him a higher contract though.

in terms of the hockey, the Panthers definitely just picked up Hoffman for pennies on the dollar.
in terms of the not-hockey, that's probably because Doug Wilson didn't want to deal with whatever in the hell's going on with the Hoffman/Karlsson fiasco, so good for him for not getting roped into that crap. AND he dumped Mikkel Bødker's contract, too. pretty good morning for Doug Wilson, all around.

After a long career with the Sharks, Hoffman has finally been traded. Imagine being a Sharks fan. He had a full 2 hour career with the Sharks.

Both teams are winners here. SJS gets rid of Boedker's contract and gains picks, and Florida gets Hoffman for cheap.

Clearing cap space, getting picks, and passing along the headache that is Mike Hoffman is savant-level work by Doug Wilson.

Ya good for them. Sanjose is so stupid, they would have had solid offense instead they have the same they had before -Boedker.

Well I guess you do have a point there.

Fair Trade for me. Florida gets a good player (if we forget the off ice drama for the moment) and San Jose gets picks for a guy they obiously never wanted.
