This logic always confuses me. Let's say the trade is fair, how does the trade make the Leafs or the Flames better? Leafs give a top winger for a Dman. And non Leaf fans don't seem want to accept that the Leafs are weak at centre, with just Matthews and Kadri. Nylander might just needed to play centre . Leafs have 10m to spend on UFAs this season, do they have to trade a top forward and create a hole just to fill another?
How many top Dmen do Calgary fans think they have? Hamilton, Giordano, Brodie, Hamonic

And Rasmassen , Kylington and Valimaki all knocking on the door. Cgy can afford to trade a D to get a top RW but they sure aint adding picks like this to trade DH for WN. Straight up is a good trade.

Straight up it is might be fair value. While the Flames have Dmen to replace Hamilton, the fact is the Leafs don't have a centre where Nylander will likely be needed. If this magical # 1 RHD is so important to people why would the Flames trade Hamilton, because certainly Ramassen, Kylington, Valimaki won't be filling that role at least not soon. What is this nonsense about adding picks, I was just talking about Leafs needs, I never suggested the trade wasn't fair, I just doubt the practically from the Leafs view.

No way the Flames are giving up Hamilton for just Nylander, and no way the Blue Jackets are giving up Werenski for Nylander either. C'mon Leafs fans, a #1 RDH is the most valuable player on a team outside the goalie. Pay up with an actual serious offer or live with the defective D you now have and live in mediocrity.... Any such deal is going to start with Marner, and go from there.
