This was the most liked post on the CapFriendly forums to ever exist. I appreciate the competition @A_K, but any artwork related to the V1 return of Mr Cap will always be superior to everything else.

Just wondering if we will have a chance to make trades in between the deadline and the expansion draft. I'm not to familiar with the schedule.

I envision the trade market opening back up after the v3 postseason but before the expansion draft.

If you open the trade market before the expansion draft, teams don't have to protect themselves with trades at the deadline.
I think I'd prefer potentially more player availability if people have to take expansion into consideration and determine if they have players they can't keep and want to move now. Even playoff teams would be forced to consider whether it's worth keeping a player for a cup run if it means losing them in expansion.

If you assume the same playoff schedule (April 11th to June 11th) and the entry draft is 10 days later( June 21st)
Our entry draft takes 7-10 days (I can't recall what our schedule was?)
3-5 days for Seattle to either draft or make an expansion related trade with every team (Trade freeze for everyone else otherwise at this time)
Then we're probably looking at around the beginning of June to start everything and still give teams about a week to make pre entry draft trades after seeing how expansion has affected their roster.

My opinion is that we should let teams make other trades between the playoffs and expansion draft. That's what they do in real life.

I was thinking that we would follow suit with happens IRL where teams can use the beginning of the offseason for teams to align for the expansion.



I think we can squeeze v3 playoffs into about 4 weeks and be done in early May. it's just going to be voting and tallying.

Should give us enough time for expansion draft before Entry Draft. I'll have to take another look at how long the Entry Draft took (I think you're right, about 10 days) but we can back-out how much time we need and if it's a short window for pre-XD movement, GMs will just have to plan accordingly (can still negotiate offers the whole time after the deadline).

About the schedule, the one thing i would suggest is that we give more time for 1st round picks and less time for later round picks, like we have in other versions. Or another idea (unlikely to work but why not suggest it) is if we pick a date that works for everyone and try to fit it all into that day. But i doubt we'll find a day that works for every GM. The first option is more likely to work.

I know. I looked at that and the last few times we've given teams more time for 1st round picks and less time for the later picks.

Last year we tried to shorten down the later rounds to 5-10 minutes and it got pretty chaotic. I think half-hour slots are pretty good, and 11 days for the draft is decent pace. As for the first round, we should be able to work around someone that can't select in their hour, whether it's delaying the draft (we'll have an extra 8 hours to work with) or getting a list in advance of their preferences.

I am looking to join the GM game. If any teams need a GM I would be willing to take that on, I know all teams are probably taken so I would like to join The Blackhawks as Assistant GM. Can I be provided with more information on joining along with some rules and guidelines.

I appreciate the info. I am going to look at some other teams as well before definitely committing to the Blackhawks. See who I'd think I'd work well with.

Just want to confirm: I am allowed to place Tanev on IR, right? Do i have to let you know when i take him off?

I don't think so. If a player is injured, put him on IR and keep him there until you're ready to activate him. No need to make announcements.

Also, is there a minimum to how long a player can be on IR? Can I take Tanev off as soon as he's back from injury even if it's not very long from now?
