Description
For the record i dont think he should be traded and if he does, the pens would continue on their downward spiral from the start of the last offseason.

FLA passes........giving up way to much for a aging veteran with a sizable contract.

6.8 million for someone who just scored 92 points is a huge steal and dadonov is just a year younger than kessel.

You are out of your mind if you think Calgary is parting with their NHL ready D prospect, their top forward, and picks that are their only high end picks. Tkachuk is worth more than Phil alone. Use your head

Kessel has no reason to wave for Florida.

Not to mention you're not getting Strome let alone the added picks for 1 year of an overpaid Hagelin and Dumoulin, who be the 5th best LHD on the Coyotes roster.

Cause someone who hasnt scored more than 49 points is totally worth more than kessel who scored 52 points or more for the last 10 years.

Lol, I mean I agree that the coyotes probably wouldn’t do Hags and Dumo for Strome, just cause I doubt Hags would want to go there. But Dumoulin would be your 3rd best LHD now and after they trade OEL, he would be their 2nd best LHD. Hjalmarsson then gogo would come after Dumoulin lol

From Calgary that's more than the Pens gave up to get Kessel in the first place and he's 3 years older now.

Value is way off.

You literally just proved my point, he has been in the league for two years and put up 49 points already, Kessel put a combined 66 in his first two years in the league opposed to Tkachuk's 97, to drive that point home a little more Chucky did it in 8 less games. On what ludicrous planet do you live on that Kessel even gets you into talks for Tkachuk. If I could give you less than one star I would

What lines did they each play on though? How many minutes? Id say Tkachuk is more heavily relied on as a rookie. And it also depends on who theyre playing with. If tkachuk gets even a bit of time with gaudreau, thats very beneficial.

That’s because Toronto was willing to just get anything for him. They needed to trade him. The pens don’t NEED to trade him. He is also coming off a career year and Calgary would need a scoring RW since they have an abundance of LW depth but no real RW depth.

Just because the Leafs needed to trade him and took a bath on it doesn't mean the Flames are going to give you anything you want for him 3 years later.

Career season or not, his value is still limited IF the Pens try to move him, because he still has an 8 team trade list that can easily be whittled down to 1 or 2 teams with strategic selection....which is basically what happened to the Leafs when they traded him. Limited options = Limited return.

And again, I can't stress this enough, just because you don't need to trade him doesn't mean the Flames will get bent over by the Pens trying to get him.

Well not needing to trade him means we keep him. Taking any limited returns is just dumb.

Exactly what I'm saying. In my opinion the Flames say no to that ask, and then you keep him, unless someone else wants to overpay.

I’m not saying they will, this is just basically stating what he would be worth. Doesn’t mean that’s what the pens will get for him. I agree that the pens will inevitably just keep him, but to think teams wouldn’t line up and overpay for a guy that just scored 92 points flipping between 2nd and 3rd lines while being ticked off and injured on a great contract, you’d be nuts. And not to mention, this thread is just basing it off If he would be willing to go there. I mean Kessel has openly said he would be ok with getting traded again.
