Less than 5 hours to go before the deadline and still no trades made yet by any teams. Last year i think we had 8 or so on deadline day. The funny thing is, it's the GM Game. Usually, we have tons of trades. Not on deadline day, I guess. We may have a quieter deadline day than last year.

If Sportsnet did a trade deadline show on our trade deadline:

(Start of the day) - Elliotte Friedman: "So, we have tons of rumours going around, and this should be a very busy trade deadline day."
(Now) - Someone else on the show: "How are we still waiting for the first trade?"
Brian Burke: "Someone needs to trade for Tom Wilson. The NHL needs more Tom Wilsons."
And then, everything is quiet.

Well, there's 2 trades so far today.

It takes 2 teams to make a trade, so for those teams who are ready & willing to make deals, if there's no trade partner...nothing is going to happen.

I think some of these teams who keep signing UFA kids had better remember that the contract limit is 50, not 500

I see teams who signed at least 2 kids just today and they're already sitting at 49 contracts.
So even on the off chance the new contracts don't kick in until next season, you need to remember you have to move out enough to keep you under 50

You mean they're at 49 after signing the 2 guys? Or they already had 49? Because I don't think contracts for next year count toward the 50 contract limit, do they? I'm not sure.
