Not enough money for Tavares and not enough value to get Karlsson

This trade is soooo bad for Ottawa. The sens need to get pieces who will be in Ottawa for the next 10-15 years. The youngest guy in this trade is 28. It just does not make sens at all. Boooo

No one is going to give Ottawa a ransom on a one year rental and everyone knows that Karlsson wants out

Look at how $8M+ is working for teams that took on those contracts. Crosby and Kessel are the only two with $8M+ AAV that have won a cup. Those contracts don't work if you are trying to build a team that wins a cup in today's NHL. I would imagine that Tavares is smart enough to see that. If it was about the money, he would stay. He can't get more than about $8M a year if he wants to skip a rebuild phase.
