It never ceases to amaze me how much you Habs fans think Pacioretty is worth. Why are you all so eager to get rid of him???

Bergevin didn’t confirm that patches would be back next year and he just has 1 year left before becoming a UFA; he’ll want a big raise considering he’s only paid 4,5 m. So if we want to get the most value out of him, we should trade him in the summer considering bergevin doesn’t really like him. That’s obviously the wrong thing to do because scoring is our biggest need and the most important thing in today’s NHL, but who said bergevin was a good gm.

You'll notice most deals involve Montreal getting a young unproven center or borderline 1st line center. Trading Pacioretty is more about having to give value to receive value. 30+ goal, defensively responsible, leaders that make less than 5M are hard to come by, even if its just for 1 season. He is coming off a career bad year, it drops his value, but its wrong to think 1 season has destroyed any value he has.

Also, as the other poster has stated, its unlikely Pacioretty will remain in Montreal (for whatever reason), so to not sell now would be a huge missed opportunity. Personally, I would hold off trading him unless we can get that young centerman, or have the opportunity to draft a couple.
