CGY selects Oliver Wahlstrom. In 88 games in USDP/USHL he had 139 points this season.

As he is committed to Harvard he is at least one season away from being an NHLer. I don't wanna move Hamilton, but it's necessary if you wanna pick in the top 5. ARI almost acquired Hamilton from BOS in 2015 but that deal fell through at the last minute. Demers is sent to CGY as ARI will have OEL, Hamilton, Goligoski, Chychrun, Hjalmarsson already on the back end, I don't think they wanna pay Demers that much to play 3rd pair minute

I like the Hamilton trade. Its interesting idea to say the least.

The Demers valuation is way off though. He's not worth that much from T.O. Not even close. Guy was traded for Jamie McGinn this past season.

I think the issue with Demers was his NTC as he vetoed a trade to VAN and Florida wanted to get rid of him. Probably an overpayment though you are right, but maybe TOR is desperate enough for a serviceable too 4 D that won’t cost them a Nylander

Kapanen has scored 8 NHL goals and 2 NHL assists in the 3 years and 11 months since being drafted. Demers isn't being traded for Matthews here.

Yeah but many can see this kid is stuck behind depth. Give him opportunity and he could surprise. He was very good in the playoffs.

Oh right. Cuz goals and assists are the only way to know if a player is good or not....... laugh Matthews has what 3 points? Stupid 4th liner i guess....

Nah man I have no allegiance to the leafs. I'm a Habs fan but i also try to be as non biased as possible. Kapanen was way better than I expected. Not top line player like Nylander or anything but potentially a good top 6/9.

Based off what? Demers hasn't exactly killed it or anything. Guy was shipped out by Florida for Jamie McGinn. I don't think anyone is undervaluing anyone. Demers is your average top 4. nothing special. What sets him apart is he is a RHD which are harder to come by.

Again? Im talking about this trade too. The one where Demers is traded for Kapanen and a 2nd rounder!

I think you misinterpreted the trade. Its:

Demers

Look at Demers's track record. Traded for Mcginn. Traded for Dillon. We're not talking about a game breaker here. For 4.5M a year your getting a guy that is barely top 4.

Losing 4.5M in cap and getting a 21 year old with potential on a ELC that has played very well in the limited time he has been given AND a 2nd rounder?

Im not sure how you're justifying this here?

A 24 year old top pairing 40 or even 50+ point Dman is not worth the 5th overall pick?

You people that over rate draft picks make my head hurt.

He's worth 5th overall and more. He's an actual star NHL player just heading into his prime, and not a ****ing magic bean. You realize that right?
