My summer for the habs

Description
This is not about being a cup contender next year, our defence still suck and our center-line remains weak but better.
My plan is for another poor year which we use to draft our much needed center in the top-5 and develop our youth.
This team should be competitive again in 2019-2020.

Jordie Benn is a trade for a B prospect or late round draft pick. Now you have 2 picks + Orpik.. Way too much IMO.

Ondrej Kase is worth Lekhonen 1 for 1.

Not even gonna comment the Sharks trade.

    you are CLUELESSS

The caps deal is all about dumping Orpik's contract while getting someone who can do the job back.

Lehkonen worth a 22 yr old who scored 20 and 38 pts in 68 games? yeah rightlaugh

Sharks are dumping Martin's contract......same as for Orpik. I didn't believe i needed to mention it was cap dumping, guess i do lol.

No one does cap dump trades anymore unless it is part of a bigger deal. Ondrej Kase was also part of a much better team playing with better offensive minded players. You cannot underestimate the value of Lekhonen. He is set to have a 2nd-3rd role for the rest of his career.

I agree with lavsim96. As someone that follows the Caps Armchair GM posts here, this is the most realistic trade that I have seen involving Orpik. The Caps are going to have to PAY someone to take Orpik. The $5.5M cap hit isn't really the issue, it is the $4.5M actual salary that is the issue. The 2nd is for someone to take that salary.

If Orpik's contract was structured so that the actual salary was less, say $1M, then it wouldn't be an issue to move his cap hit, but his actual salary is going to cost the Caps to get rid of.

Kase is untouchable imo.... they like him too much. By they I mean coaching and management, so there’s nothing other than pick #3 that he’d be in a deal for which is overpay.

Should target good players who have the possibility of being traded instead of a guy the team referred to as the energizer bunny because he brings so much positive energy to the team and lockeroom.

fair enough, it's just that the Ducks have a ton of right wingers and would surely use some lefties, and following their swept there will surely be changes.
But Kase might not be the guy moved, i agree.

No one does cam dump trades? Hawks with Bickell, Florida with Bolland, Ott and Boston traded cap dumps in Beleskey and Hammond...only on top of my head i am sure i could find more.

Well the cap remains a problem for the Capitals since they are going to re-sign Carlson and Wilson and surely try to keep Beagle too. But i get your point that only a rich team will agree to take Orpik for a good return since he has a big salary that comes with it
