- Chances are very low that you could sign Ceci at $3,500,000 x 5 years. His qualifying Offer is at $3,300,000...

- Trading Ryan for Lucic would be awful. You save a bit of money but you get a much worse player with 1 additional year left on his contract. Lucic is owed $26,000,000 for 5 years, Ryan is owed $30,000,000 for 4 years

You save 8 M$ in total for the next 4 years (2 M$ per year) and have to pay Lucic $3,500,000 on his last season when his skating might not even be able NHL level anymore.

I'd rather trade Ryan for Eriksson or Ladd straight up.
