No way is Ottawa getting Draisaitl without Erik Karlsson going the other way.
Duchene + Hoffman + Ryan at 3.625 (which makes his contract very good all of sudden) + 1st + 2nd + 3rd sounds like a very very good package, easily worth more than Karlsson himself.

How about RNH & Edmonton's 2nd for Ryan at full price & Ottawa's 2018 top 5 pick?
No thanks. Sure there's some value for Ottawa to get out of the contract obligation to Ryan (30 M$ owed) but RNH is owed 18 M$ for 3 years himself. Let's say he makes 6 M$ again the 4th year, then the Sens only save 6.0 over the course of 4 years... RNH might be younger than Ryan but he is overpaid too, on his RFA years nonetheless.
Let's compare some stats
Since Ryan has been in Ottawa (5 seasons, since 2013-14) :
344 Games, 84 Goals, 127 Assists, 211 Pts (0.61 PPG)
RNH since 2013-14 :
349 Games, 94 Goals, 137 Assists, 231 Pts (0.66 PPG)
Let's only look at the last 2 years where Ryan's production has cooled off?
115 Games, 21 Goals, 32 Assists, 53 Pts (0.46 PPG)
RNH since 2016-17 :
138 Games, 39 Goals, 46 Assists, 85 Pts (0.62 PPG)
Sure RNH is younger and would probably produce more but what if he had to deal with the rash of injuries Ryan has dealt with? Probably would end up the same problem.
Plus, the Sens have Brown, Batherson, Chlapik and White who are centers. One of them will probably end up as productive as RNH, maybe even more.
I'd rather have Pageau play the spot that RNH would play and keep my top-5 pick. Find other ways to deal with Ryan's contract (retain, take a lower salary, even buy him out, etc)
All of that makes me easily pass on giving up a top-5 pick (future franchise player) for a 2nd round pick. Sens are already loaded with quality prospects that you could land with a 2nd. A top-5 has immense value

That’s a joke right? If you are serious then I can’t take any comment you have ever made seriously.
I don't agree that Duchene is worth Draisaitl alone but I'm not making that trade either... easy pass even though I really like Drai
How much better is Draisatl than Duchene? Yes he is 4 years younger but he is already more expensive so age doesn't matter much here.
So the difference in value is worth giving?
1) Mike Hoffman (I'd rather have him than RNH by far)
2) Bobby Ryan at 3.625 x 4 years (who will give you 40-60 pts per 82 games depending on health OR monster playoffs like 10 months ago). Retaining 50% makes his contract not a problem at all anymore, on the contrary
3) a late 1st
4) a 2nd
5) a 3rd
No way.
