The few ways this deal can turn out as a BOS win is if Nash resigns and/or if BOS win the cup, so anything less then one or both of those 2 things and BOS lose out big time
But this can be said for all high profile rentals, not just Nash.
Again, you just don't realize how deep Bruins are in prospects. They HAD to get rid of some!! Bruins already win this trade easily

Nash chokes come playoffs, so if Boston does win the cup, i doubt he will have much to do with it
NY gets a pretty good return although Boston has lots of solid prospects so this may not hurt them long term too much, or at all. They give up their 1st but it would be a really low pick in that round so who knows. Nash is a great player even if he is in decline and sometimes a team has to make a bold move, so I do like it from Boston's perspective. I am hopeful that this forces other teams to make some interesting moves to keep up

FINALLY!!!!!! Somebody that actually knows what they're talking about!!!! Good post Mount Royal 514!!!!
We get an old guy who we're not gonna re-sign. Rangers get Spooner, who's had a breakout year, plus a 1st. Already that's way too much for a pure rental. We shed Beleskey, but only 50% of him. And then throw in Lindgren, who could still be decent, and you get a really botched blockbuster.

Ok. An old guy that can still play/skate/and score, smart hockey player, veteran in the dressing room. A Canadian who has heart for the game (means more than you think). May re-sign but only at a lot cheaper, if he doesn't I won't lose sleep, they are making a move to try and win the cup NOW!!!! Understand that, there's not that much else out there!!!! Spooner having a good year but he was going to move anyway, Bruins don't have a spot for him for what he will command on the market. Jesus, do I really have to do this? the first is basically a second rounder. No guarantees down that far, plus Bruins are so deep in solid prospects it hurts (look at Providence (not many veterans playing there!!!!). Lindgren is a shut down D - we are already deep in that category. We get rid of Bels contract which EVERYONE hated and criticized (well half) and we only take on half of Nash's heavy contract!! Not a blockbuster but a trade that works for both teams, and remember, Bruins are taking a shot at the cup, why not!!?????? Jesus, some people just gonna hate......
