        Wild pass.

The trade does nothing to help them for a couple of years, and they aren't in a rebuilding phase for at least another season.

I don't see Nylander being ready for at least another season. The 2020 1st might take a few years (if ever) to be useful also.

Well, Minnesota has almost 70 million under contract already for next season with 6 roster spots open. Thats before signing Dumba or Zucker. They get a good prospect and a 1st round pick and can free up cap

Montreal has no centers. Here's a good 4th line center

Correction: Montreal has no Top-6 center. We have plenty of 3rd and 4th line center and we don't need to add another one, especially if the price is a 3rd round pick. We traded one in Mitchell a few months ago for a 5th rounder (maybe 4th).

7% of 3rd rounders make the NHL. A 3rd round pick is a giveaway.

As an avid Penguins fan, the fact that someone actually wants to sign Carter Rowney to their team made me laugh uncontrollably for 5 minutes. Dude is horrible, and wouldn't upgrade anything for Buffalo. There is a reason why he is 27 and been a career minor leaguer until last year. He's decent on faceoffs, and can PK. You'll get no offense from him. He has zero skill.

Gotta believe doesn't want his NHL career with the Sabres. He'll sign for that much elsewhere.

Minny is sitting at ~$63m cap (their salary is ~$70m) for next year with only Zucker/Dumba and maybe a FWD depth player or two to sign. The cap goes up to $80m (projected) next season, that's leaves plenty of space. Worst case is Ennis is bought out and will free up ~$3m.

Koivu's new contract and Vanek coming off the books makes $~3.5m in savings from this season.

Edit: If you change the prospect to Mittlestat it would make more sense for Minny, they need center prospects. Nylander is nice, but wings really aren't a big need in the prospect pool.

What's the point of saying signed for 2018-19? We're going to resign most of them without problems given how much cap space we have, without having to give up picks for it. We're gonna have Shaw, Danault, probably De La Rose and maybe Plekanec. You can add Froese, L. Shaw and even Cracknell for the AHL roster. These are all Bottom-6 centers, we don't need more.

According to this article (https://www.tsn.ca/playing-the-percentages-in-the-nhl-draft-1.206144), it's actually 30%.
Second rounders aren't that much better, yet Penguins fans are incredibly stingy when we suggest trading Plekanec to the Pens for a second, and Plekanec is much more valuable than Larsson.
