Description
Vegas gets EK. They have the room to take on Ryan. Vegas gets the best defensemen in the world, a good backup to ?at a much more reasonable cap hit with Ottawa retaining half, and a guy who if he can stay healthy, can put up 40-50 points in Ryan. Ottawa replaces Karlsson with Miller, takes on Clarksons contract which goes to LTIR and Melnyk pays next to nothing on, a young backup goalie in Subban, two good prospects in Suzuki and brannstrom and a couple first round picks.

Severson and Ceci need fresh starts and are pretty much the same age. Ottawa gives up an ok prospect and a 2nd mainly because Severson has a long term deal at a reasonable cap hit while Ceci is RFA as of now.

Boedker goes back to Arizona for a couple picks. Mainly just getting rid of cap hit.

Colorado free up some space by getting rid of Varlamov and let Grubauer take the reins. In return they get a solid backup signed for this and next year at a relatively small cap hit and a bottom 6 player who can play at every position (C,LW,RW) and adds grit to a playoff team. They can also flip him for a 3rd rnd pick if they don’t want him. Ottawa might have to add a pick to make this work

NYI get a great 2C to play behind Barzal while not giving up any roster players. Helps ease the pain of Tavares leaving for nothing. For me it was either Bellows or Wahlstrom but since Lou has no ties to Bellows think he would be the odd one out. Not to sure on the value of Quenneville but really any okay defensive prospect can fit in here. Also add NYI 1st

MTL gets a C with some term for the rebuild at a small cap hit. An excellent 3C but can step up and play 2C as well. Plus he’s French

That Vegas trade is ludicrous. They would never pay all that to get Karlsson WHILE taking on Ryan. Taking on Ryan will LOWER the return for OTT, not augment it. Plus, Vegas has absolutely no need or reason to take on Anderson. That won't happen either (and don't expect a great return from a Craig Anderson trade...it will be modest at best, MAYBE a 3rd round pick). Suzuki and Brannstrom are 2 of their 3 very best prospects and your asking them their current #1 D-man in Miller (who they just extended) PLUS 2 1st round picks?!? Wow that trade isn't happening like that any time soon.

I like the COL deal. Think it's a good move on both sides and I think they would accept that.

The Habs doesn't need Pageau. OTT would be better suited to keep him on the 3rd line. Reliable, not that expensive, locked in long term, relatively young.

ARI isn't taking back Boedker anytime soon. They're loaded with young soon-to-breakout players. They really have no use for him whatsoever.

NYI might have interest in Duchene, but they won't trade away Keiffer Bellows for him or for anyone for that matter. He's their future with Barzal, Beauvillier, Dobson, Whalstrom and Ho Sang.

Don’t think the Vegas trade is as bad as you think. Essentially VGK get rid of clarksons cap hit(a player who doesn’t even play) and take on 2m more to get a player who can actually suit up for them and if he can stop breaking his fingers, can be a great top 9 forward for them( can see him on a line with Tuch and just mauling people). EK is MUCH better then Miller and upgrades their first pairing a lot. VGK don’t want to give up Glass so they will have to give up 2 of Suzuki/brannstrom/Hague. If VGK think they will be a contender for the next 2 years the 1st rounders are late anyways and not very valuable. Can see them not being very interested in Andy but having a solid vet backup at a cheap price(roughly 2.4m) isn’t very bad especially since Fleury has had an injury history.

Wouldn’t mind the sens keeping Pageau but wouldn’t say Habs don’t need him. Habs probably have the worst C depth in NHL and adding Pageau could keep them from rushing Kotkaniemi into NHL.

Boedker doesn’t necessarily have to go back to Arizona just pretty much any team with some cap space needing a top 9 winger

NYI biggest need is 2C and Duchene would be one of the better ones available. He’s still relatively young (27) and can be signed long term. I look at the O’Reilly deal when thinking of a Duchene deal. Would need a top prospect, 1st pick and either a meh roster player or a meh prospect. I can get them not wanting to part with one of their better prospects but if they think adding a good 2C can get them into the playoffs this year I think it would be worth it.

The Las Vegas trade involves what are essentially 5 first-round assets. GMc isn't going to trade more than 3 and he would probably prefer to release the future (unknown) ones rather than the players he drafted last year.
