As I just said, Columbus is giving up too much.

I'll just copy paste what I said in the other thread then

Yet I am not doing that deal if I am Ottawa. It's the kind of trade that will never happen so it's hard to read, way too many players involved but here is why I would never do this. I'd much rather have quality than quantity.

Ottawa assets :

Erik Karlsson : no need for any presentations.

Mark Stone : average of 70 pts per 82 games in his first 4 full NHL seasons. A selke level Winger who is the best in the league for takeaways. Just turned 26 years old.

Logan Brown : high end prospect, has the ability, size and speed to develop into a true N.1 Center

Bobby Ryan (2.5 retained) : Ryan might be overpaid and injury-prone but at 4.75 per year, he is still a positive contributor. He had a 44 pts per 82 games pace last season, despite struggling with hand injuries again. That was just after having monster playoffs with 15 pts in 19 games (3 GWG, 2 in OT, and impactful overall play). It's a guy with high end skill that can still give you over 50 pts if just relatively healthy enough

Columbus assets :

Artemi Panarin : best Columbus asset by far here.

Alex Wennberg : 23 y/o, signed 5 more years at a reasonable 4.9 per year. Good 2nd line center.

Sonny Milano : potential top-6 forward but still unproven

2020 1st round pick (CBJ)

Ryan Murray : Decent #4 D-man

Boone Jenner : Good 3rd liner.

Brandon Dubinsky makes 5.85 for the next 3 years. I'd much rather have Bobby Ryan making 4.75 for the next 4 years.

Bittner : was a 2nd round pick 3 years ago but nothing indicates that he will be more than a 4th line forward in the NHL

Now let's divide the trades

1) Karlsson for Panarin. Is it fair 1 on 1 or Columbus needs to add an asset? I think so, let's say Ryan Murray.

2) Ryan (with retention) for Dubinsky and let's say just Bittner (even if I would never do that)

3) I wouldn't trade Brown for Wennberg 1 for 1. But let's say I would.

4) So that leaves Mark Stone for Milano, Jenner and a 1st. No thanks

Overall, I easily decline. None of those deals interest me. Maybe just Panarin + Murray for Karlsson if the Sens are FORCED to trade Karlsson (aka IF he wants to leave)

That’s a good breakdown. Thanks!
