Oh it DEFINITELY worked for you here.. Your only $4.2M OVER the salary CAP and underpaid Kovalchuk by $1-2M.. There is NO reason for Kovalchuk to come to Detroit. The guy is 35 and wants to win.. Detroit is going young and trying to dump contracts...

He wants to win which may be why he does want to be with the Wings. He can pick another team and hope they are as good as he thinks at the beginning of the season, or he can sign with the Wings and pick from a few interested teams at the trade deadline that have already shown in the season how good they are. It would be a shrewd move for him. Also, the $6M over two years is a number that has been reported. It's rumor mill that you should be correcting.
