Caps would take that trade for sure. Beagle is probably gone after this year and glendenning could take that spot on the bottom line and allow Stephenson to play middle 6 wing and make Burakovsky more expendable. And Ouellet would probably be 7D or get flipped for a pick. There isn’t a real need for him on the caps, but that value is good for Grubauer.

Completely agree that the value's right, and that Glendenning's faceoffs and cap hit make him a poor man's Jay Beagle. Great analysis.

Good point about Ouellet not fitting the Caps' depth chart at left D, too. I'm guessing Washington retains Kempny and Jerabek, so that even if they trade Orpik for cap relief over the summer (which I personally kind of hope they don't, but they might have to) they'll return four left hand shots on the blueline, with Lucas Johansen as a potential call-up.

How about that #36 pick, Luke Glendenning, and Robbie Russo? Russo would definitely end up in the AHL, where Washington could maybe use a top pair right handed defenseman to give Lucas Johansen a year of experience on the left side. He's still got potential and might put it all together, but I'm happy if he gets Hershey back into the playoffs.

I approve of the change from ouellete to russo, we can just dump him somewhere for a late round pick. On a side note if you want to give us your 1st or burkowsky we will take opik off your hands
