Dubinsky plays more minutes and tougher minutes than Beagle. If you can get Beagle at that price, obviously, he's a great pickup. But rather than trading Dubinsky for a 7th to make ice time for a rookie in Steel, maybe keep Dubinsky until the trade deadline, play him as much as you can, even if it means benching new acquisition Jay Beagle, and then trade Dubinsky at the deadline if Steel is really ready for prime time. Either one can move to the wing depending where ice time is available.

You're giving up a lot of young talent for Barkov. If some of that is intended to pay for Luongo, it's unnecessary, given his current age. As much as Florida would love to keep him around for a longer victory lap, if they're getting Bobrovsky and Wennberg for Barkov, they need Luongo out of their salary cap picture. Throwing in Carlsson and a 2nd is really generous and I wouldn't recommend it.

Edit: I think Columbus overpays in all of these trades. The team you end up with is a mix of younger and older. I guess I don't know the players involved well enough to see what traits you're focused on adding, so I can't really evaluate whether it's worth it. Feel like explaining?

Wow this is a really hard call on this one. I really like what you did here. I think right now this is extremely close but Florida would say no based on the idea that they have complete control over these players and the cap situation right now. The most that both Luongo and Barkov are going to make for the foreseeable future is 12.5 million. The cap for Wennberg, Bobro, and eventually Carlsson will easily exceed this mark and the production will not increase enough to offset the overall difference in cost.

I don't think that gets it done for Steel. Anaheim is counting on him being ready to take the reigns from Getzlaf eventually - and they've got several good RHDs already.

I don't see NYR wanting to take back Dubinsky unless we pay them something nice. That cap space is an asset and one they can make better use of.

The Florida trade really only works if they're confident Trocheck can produce at the rate he is without having Barkov around to take on the top competition.

Nice look for the Jackets overall - I like targeting Beagle, for example - but I'm not sure those trades would be accepted.

Sam Steel won’t happen for that. Ducks have Manson and Montour at RD in top 4 already, with young guys like Welinski playing well as bottom pair. You need to offer something they actually want/need. Not a future 1st and fill in for an already log-jammed position
