Description
Draft lottery is a toss up, so I gave Ottawa the 2nd overall pick seeing as they have the best chance at getting it.

Karl trade should happen at this point, whether to Tampa or elsewhere. The Smith trade only happens if the first one does to clear space for new bodies and add a veteran to the d core.

Also don't think Burrows or Gaborik get bought out. Can't see Burrows playing more than a handful of games next year. Think Gaborik plays as long as he's healthy.

Can't see Ottawa landing Tavares or Carlson so, as nice as that would be, I didn't add them in.

9-player Phaneuf deal, but most were just minor-league players. This is too much for Karlsson, as rare as that is. U need to trade Point OR Serg for Karlsson, not both.

Honestly, just threw Nick Paul in to rid Ottawa of what's left from the Spezza trade. Not too concerned with Stephens or exchanging picks. So it could definitely be stripped down a bit but if it was me in the gm's chair, I would want mostly players back instead of picks. Easier to sell prospects to fans instead of picks!

Also not quite sure how Calgary values Stone but I see him as their 5th best dman. Deal would move Smith close to home while opening a spot for whatever's coming back for Karl. Would feel okay throwing in a pick too if Calgary needed more for some reason.

If I was calling the shots in Ottawa, I'd keep Karlsson. But I also feel like the owner is an idiot so a trade is going to happen. So moving Karlsson would have to happen in a foolproof trade. Wouldn't even consider a trade unless I knew the other team was questioning if they were giving too much. Can't afford to get burned on a deal for Karl. So maybe Tampa doesn't happen but who knows. If they don't make it out of the first two rounds, something tells me there's going to be trouble.
