Description
Wasn't going to publish this, but I've only seen it from MTL perspective so far and wanted to see the STL side.

Allen, Thomas, and a 1st were already included. I modified the deal to include Dunn and additional cap.

Allen and Berglund don't add any value for Montreal, so they are just noise. STL can keep them and/or move them elsewhere to recoup some value, I've only included them to account for the necessary elements.

The original offer is therefore more like Thomas and a 1st for Price. I think we can all agree that isn't fair value, so I added a 1st with an insurance clause should Price miss playing time.

That's still not enough, and another prospect would need to be included. I went with a Dunn/Benn swap to make up for the discrepancy, but there are other options. The idea was to avoid Kyrou, Kostin, and the like, in favor of a player that Montreal can replace on at least a temporary basis.

I still don't do this deal as a Habs fan, but it's close enough that I could see it being a consideration if the next step is a full rebuild.

From STL's perspective, I signed everyone to roughly estimated bridge deals, to present more of a best case scenario. The remaining cap space may very well be eaten up in additional dollars for the players on those bridge deals.
(I didn't worry about lines and who makes the team, just the bare minimum to get a rough picture)

What does St Louis think about how their team might end up looking?

Détails additionnels:
- Thomas, Dunn, and two 1sts for Price.
- Allen has some value as support until Lindgren is ready to fully claim the starter role, then Allen is flipped for a pick if possible.
- I added Benn to compensate for the loss of Dunn.

Berglund accounts for additional cap and is replaceable with a lower salary. If he doesn't need to be included, he can be left out.

St Louis recoups some value in the conditional first should Price go down for an extended period of time over the course of the next 2 seasons.

The report is Allen, Thomas and a 1st for what the Blues offered.
Bergevin apparently countered with Hutton, Thomas and two 1sts.

As a MTL how could you not be ecstatic about this?! Great start to your rebuild and you get 10.5 mil off the books for the next 6 years. Would have Allen and Lindgren and so much cap space to do whatever you want with.

Damn @ricochetii I checked to see if anyone posted the Blues side, didn't see any so I made one, published it, and now I see you did!

I think Blues fans value Allen much higher than what you're assuming here (as we should haha). If the price for $10.5M x 8 Price is Dunn, Thomas, and 2 1sts, the Blues should walk away. I don't think the upgrade at goalie is worth that much and I don't know why any team would want to be married to any goalie for 8 years. Allen is a head case, but he was to credit for essentially all of our playoff wins last year. He has a dominant level to his game - just hasn't been able to be consistent as a starter so far.

Neither Fabbri or Thompson have played any center at the NHL level. I'm not sure if the Blues view them as centerman or not (but Fabbri was going to get a shot this year before his (re)injury.

Personally would rather keep Price and not go full rebuild, but that's just as a fan speaking. I did say I could see it being a consideration in a full rebuild scenario, objectively.

I forgot about the Hutton part because I can't see St Louis keeping Allen anyway and Hutton could still serve as their backup. So I guess I replaced him with Dunn and added Benn.

Doesn't look too great to me from STL's side either. Counts on a number of young players becoming key contributors and some of them may not be ready.

I wanted to see it for myself and thought I would save others the trouble of mocking it up to judge the impact.

Good, we can take it over there then. I only published mine because Blues fans were too lazy to do it. wink

You know your team better than I do.
As I said though. Allen can be flipped elsewhere, Montreal doesn't need him and maybe you can replace one of the lost 1sts with a 2nd or 3rd and maybe add a player.
