Description

Bennet: Good chance he's not the solution, but there's a chance. Our next best C options are not going to be ready next season.

Stastny: Not Tavares, but again, better than our current options. He can be lured with a hefty contract. Tavares is guaranteed a hefty contact, so we can't lure him with money alone, making Stastny the more attainable option.
I have left room for Tavares if we can get him over Stastny however.

Bieksa and Beauchemin are insurance signings. Our real defense will be competition between Juulsen and Andersson on the right and Mete and Morrow on the left.
We will be able to get good looks at all of them this season in different situations without Alzner in the way.
If not Beauchemin or Bieksa, find similar options.

It's time to see what Scherbak and McCarron can do at the NHL level. They should see significant playing time this year, as well as Lindgren as the full time backup, hopefully taking more of the workload off Price.

Anyone not mentioned is available and should be used to acquire picks/prospects.

Benn helps now and adds versatility, making it easier for Calgary to move another defender to revamp their blue line.
They are also low on top picks, so they get added value in recouping a 2nd rounder.

I don't see MB admitting to a mistake this soon, but IF he were able to, I could indeed see us taking on an expiring contract instead. Like I said, we aren't losing value, so all options are on the table.

its rare people actually think about those long term impacts of a deal .
everyone just assumes if they arent top 50 in their fantasy draft that they
have no value and to me that's just foolish given Kimmo Timmonen and Ron Hainsey's yield the past 2 years
simply because it was a trade deadline deal
