Can't see STL trading away Thomas unless its for a #1 Center such as Tavares. Thomas is the future #1 center.

Thank you for the comment. I think Thomas will be a future #1 too. But I also feel St.Louis needs just a little something to win the cup as they are the closest they’ve ever been. Future is now for the Blues. If they can get Tavares for the same price, of course they will. But I feel Tavares will stay with the Isles.

Yeah this is true with Tavares he will probably stay, I was just using him as an example. Also I agree that Blues are closest they have ever been but just can't see them giving up their best prospect for another winger, even if it is someone as good as Pacioretty. Maybe make the prospect like Kyrou and add a 3rd.

I think you guys throw around #1 center like its a basketball.......

Thomas is good. Thomas will be solid player in the NHL more than likely.

What Thomas will never be is a Tavares or a Kopitar or a Stamkos etc. That's no knock on him. There are only a few players like that. You can still be a really good player and not be a #1 center.

What I think you both mean is Thomas will be a top 6. A player capable of playing on the top 2 lines. Once again playing on the top line center does not make you a #1 center. If so than David Desharnais was a #1 center. Tomas Plekanec was a #1 center. Philip Danault is a #1 center......

Same goes for Dmen. Jordie Benn played on the top D core with Weber this year. So did Mete. Are they top pairing dmen? Antti Raanta is the Coyotes starting goaltender. Is he a #1 goalie?

He has #1 center potential, will he be a Tavares or Kopitar probably not but more likely comparison would be Bergeron which is obviously best case scenario. But when dealing with prospects you have to look at potential unless its a guy like McDavid or Matthews who are #1 centers from day 1.
I was saying Thomas is STL's future #1 center. Unless they make a trade for one.
